Hey all, for some time I've had in my possession about 700pts of cadians. But in reality they're a friends whose left the country and left them with me to do whatever with. Recently I got a bunch of Vostroyans so have made up a 1000pts list out of what I got.

So the exhaustive list of the Vostroyans:
46x Vostroyan lasgunners, 14x Vostroyan plasma gunners, 6x Vostroyan melta gunners, 5x Vostroyan grenade launchers,
9x Lascannon teams, 4x Heavy Bolter team
8x Vostroyan sergeants
2x Vostroyan medics, a colonel and a standard bearer

From this I'm looking to make a 1000pts, with just infantry. You may notice its just the 1 HQ and 2 Troops...

The normal guardsmen would most likely be combined with the special weapons teams hiding in it. Overall I'm happy with it, really the only thing that sticks out for me is the heavy bolters, maybe I could extend the barrels into autocannons or something.
So just wondering what you guys would suggest/change. I would prefer to keep it within the realms of the models I've got seeing as vostroyans aren't the easiest to get a hold of. With 2 primary blobs, if one's beaten in combat and gets overrun... that would be lame. Perhaps attaching a commissar in would help (Kurganova anyone?). One thing I would ask is how do people find special weapons squads? Being small and not combinable I can see Ld possibly being an issue. Once its painted up I would want to expand up to 1500. Im thinking of bringing some russes in at that point so I'm feeling a demolisher and 2 LRBT would go down nicely.

Imperial Guard without tanks or cheesy fliers is best Imperial Guard. My boys can certainly give this list a little... review.

Haha, it'll be a little while till they're painted. Being the type they are I would prefer to have that done before fielding them, but with uni break coming up it should get done. A horde could be difficult, as much as slugga boys love eating lascannon, autocannons would be better. And lets call it Magenta...

I'd definitely get a Commissar in each of those blobs. IMO more reliable than a Regimental Standard, as it doesn't make your CCS an even bigger target and a Commissar will give you some defense against assaults

I'm in the same boat as you are man but with fewer models to work with. I feel like my best bet is to call Vostryans veterans and fill out the platoons with cheaper models if possible.

I have no idea what is good with guard when it comes to gaming so its kind of frustrating to put the time into painting them without a clear end goal.
