If not, rent a movie in Brazil.

We have had far to much stuff about womens issues and being right on liberal namby pambys, so I thought we should bring back some pointless food talk.

Takeout pizza and a DVD are a natural fit for many. So Domino's Pizza in Brazil decided to combine the two in a campaign via Artplan Sao Paolo.

In partnership with 10 video rental stores in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the brand used rented DVDs as media. About 10 discs each of 10 different new release titles such as Argo, 007, Dread And Dark Knight were stamped with thermal ink and flavored varnish, both sensitive to the heat.

While people were watching the movie, the heat of the DVD player affected the disc. When the movie ended and they ejected the disc, they smelled pizza. They also saw pizza: the discs were printed to look like mini pies, and carried the message: "Did you enjoy the movie? The next one will be even better with a hot and delicious Domino's Pizza."

In this age of streaming video, the idea might seem a bit anachronistic. However, "in Brazil streaming services like Netflix and iTunes are relatively new, and for people with good social conditions," said ArtPlan art director Diogo Barbosa. "Also our broadband connection isn't as fast as that used in the U.S., and because of that we still have video rental stores in your neighborhoods."

Now I'm not sure if this is genius or would be very annoying, making your house smell of pizza, your kids complain about wanting pizza and your dog try to eat your DVD player mid film, but you have to give them points for creativity.

Definite points for trying.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

I'd worry that whatever smelly stuff is coming off the disk is going to gum up my DVD player.

But props for a cool idea. Pizza and a movie go hand in hand. If you have a rental place and a pizza joint right next to each other, they should work something out where the delivery guy will bring you movie over if you call over the the rental place.

Oh man that is cool.

I'm not enough of a marketing expert to say if it will work or not, but it is pretty creative.

What they need to do, is just combine pizza delivery with dvd rental. You call up, "Hey Id like a large pizza, a salad and a dvd of Casino" or whatever your desired movie is at the time. The pizza delivery guy brings you your pie and movie for an extra charge.

Only if they partner with good Pizza places, because Domino's is the bottom of the barrel bad.

Those are fighting words. As chain pizza places go, Dominoes has been my go to since their "reinvention" about 2 and a half years ago. Pizza Hut is cardboard, Little Caesar's is utter gak, Papa John's is solid, but expensive for what you get... Dominoes has good flavorful pizza, quick, and at a good price.

Albeit local pizza joints generally shoot these guys out of the water.

I can excuse your behavior because I see you live in Ohio, and you probably do not know what real pizza tastes like anyway.

Come to Chicago, I will take you for the best Pie slice in existence.

Dominoes = garbage.

Little Caesar's = garbage.

Papa John's = garbage to worse than garbage.

Pizza hut = Not horrible, but still pretty bad.

The only chain that is not terrible is California Pizza Kitchen, and they are not good, I would classify them as "Tolerated" Not good, just tolerated.

Go local, never go chain restaurant for Pizza. I would try Nunzio's at 17615 Detroit Ave Lakewood, OH, but that is just a cursory choice. The real decision would be made at the table.
