I was wondering is it was possible for a non-corruptible chapter like the Grey Knights to conqueror demon worlds and make them habital. To my knowledge the warp is made up of sentient beliefs carnated in the warp, so if this is true than it may be possible to transport a population to a demon world with unbreakable faith and possibly purifiy a part of the warp. Is such a thing possible? And if the purification was to work would that mean the worlds would be free of mutation and stuff like that.

It sounds possible, but I don't think its something that could be accomplished by the Imperium. Even if you managed to get a large enough group of incorruptable humans on a world and purify it, they would still be surrounded on all sides by the warp. Although no chaos might manifest it self on the world, chaos could still influence and move towards that world.

You can't really "conquer" the warp. It's always in flux so any held ground could become anything else at anytime. That said, daemons and the warp are powered by all the negative emotions and attributes of the IoM and it's citizens. Wrathful and angry thoughts and actions give power and glory to Khorne. Actions that bring suffering and pestilence power Nurgle. So on and so forth for each god in turn.

If you managed to "turn off" all of these acts and thoughts simultaneously and keep them off then I believe the warp would shrivel up and die. Of course, you'd have to get all the other races in on it too...and how likely is that?

Well what, per se, do you conquer, when you conquer the warp?

It would be sort of like driving a boat out into the deep ocean and saying "this chunk is mine".

According to the earlier fluff that Warp was a calm and serene place. It was the dawn of sentient life (except life with no psychic potential) that started to cause the warp to become more chaotic. Every thought or emotion from any sentient being lives on in the warp an entity of energy, and it is these energies that combined to from the chaos gods, and other demons are various power. I understand that both positive and negative emotions live on in the warp but the negative grossly overpowers the positive.

Being that humans have psychic potential and are so widespread throughout the galaxy, its no wonder the warp is such a mess! I think back when humans were only confined to earth before even the dark age of technology, the warp was still pretty calm.

Since the warp is a reflection of real space & responds to the emotions & thoughts of sentient beings it is theoretically possibly to purify the warp. Though to do so would require you purify the mind of every sentient being in the galaxy (Possibly universe).

I'm not sure if having an entire population capable of having 'unbreakable faith' is possible; In a population of around a billion inhabitants, there will undoubtedly be people who are susceptible to Chaos-- not to mention the fact that more direct methods of confrontation on the part of the Chaos Gods could do away with the inhabited planet (virus, daemons, even Traitor Legions?)

Well, except for the whole eldar creating a new warp deity thing.

It's often pretty close to being Space Hell, and a number of the planets within are abstract, or constantly shifting. You can't conquer a planet that's built on pure emotion, it changes too much.

Of course, you might also have to accept the horrible fact that the warp already is "purified"... I remember reading a really interesting article a while back noting that all the chaos gods have positive aspects too. Khorne is dedication and determination, Nurgle is fatherly love, Tzeentch is the quest for wisdom, and Slaanesh is...well...pretty obvious (the non-mind twisting/murderous parts).

It kind of makes sense, the warp is the reflection of emotions (human or otherwise), which has been demonstrated many times to be capable of amazingly good or evil acts. Really, the only way to stop the chaos craziness is to burn the emotion centers out of every sentient being in the galaxy. And somehow I don't think an entire race of Omega Minus psykers would be very sustainable.

If the Tau ruled the galaxy it would be calmer. But probably as good as you'd get.

I dont think its possible my grey knight fluff may not be up to date so take this with a grain of salt. All it takes is one person to plant the seed of coruption and make people aware of chaos and if they submit the warp takes back what it originally possesed and if it dosent work the first time there will be more just like him.

Hence the Necron goal of wiping out all other sentient life to remove the threat of chaos. Probably not a very sustainable goal given the odds.

Interesting, so it is possible to take worlds from the demons. Alot of you said that since the warp is made of emotion than you would have to get rid of peoples emotions. I wonder if you kill the chaos gods (by some miracle) than this would reduce the amount of demons and what not. If this is right than you could conquer the warp instead of purifying everyone. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the warp would only be purified or calmed once all life was gone. Although the necrons strive to destroy all sentient life, I think the tyranids consumption of all life would be the way.

If the tyranids succeeded, and consumed all life and moved on, the warp would revert back to how it was in the beginning, calm and peaceful. That is if the warp was confined to this galaxy. At least this section would be calm.

Conquering a daemon world is possible. Conquering the warp, would essentually require every mortal in the universe, to take up a monk-like lifestyle, not allowing any emotion to overwhelm the others. So, practically impossible, even the orks fuel khorne in their own way, and try to convince -them- to calm down
