Calling on the dakka community. Lets discuss the best options in the codex, and narrow down a serious CSM list.
My thoughts are on the following units so far. Feel free to jump in with suggestions and lets make a list.
HQ
Typhus
Lord (nurgle)
Elite
Nothing jumps out
Troops
Plague marines
Plague zombies
Fast attack
Heldrakes
Blight drones
Nurgle bikers
Heavy support
Obliterators
Forgefiends
So how do we turn these awesome options into a 1950 list?

I think typhus is overhyped, you should really only take him when you want
to take cultist zombies to camp the objective or soak dmg from what I understand.
However seeing this is a Nurgle themed list we just have to take him

It's not themed really just aiming at competitive. Nurgle just has the survival illite and good weapon options. So forget theme it's aim is competitive play

Your hq section should have a daemon prince in the mix. Forge fiends are too expensive. Predators are very good

Daemon princes are great thanks for the reminder. Needs to be player well really to work. Pred's are okay but I think oblits provide better overall power and mobility to a list, and forgefiends bring the 5++ and it will not die making pretty tough.
What's thoughts on bringing forgefiends vs Obliterators?

Oblits are way better. They have the advantage of blot having an armor value. Preds cost 115 points with 2 Las cannon and Ann auto cannon. A way better value than a forge fiend who will just get hot himself to death.

Typhus may not be right for tourney, over say a Nurgle Lord on bike, but if you do run him put him in deep strike with a group of Oblits. Ty can detach later if necessary!
N. Lord on bike with bikers is fun and can put up lots of pressure in tandem with Heldrakes and DS Oblits.
Bikes are priced right in current codex and some loadout on Lord should include either Burning Brand or Lightning Claw or other goodies (add to taste).
Nix the fiends and contemplate a rhino loadout for PMs to capture upfield objectives while zombies camp backfield. The pressure you should be applying will hopefully take presure off rhinos.

Well lets discuss the pros and cons of those loadouts.
Typhus an oblits, how many oblits do you need in heavy support? And typhus to me seems more like a close combat machine. Is he more usable in a termicide combi squad of 3?
Vs a N lord and bikes. I mean T6 says enough for this idea and they are cheap to run with melta. Are oblits that much of an auto include or could you say skip heavy support in favour of drakes, Pm squads and typhus termicide, with a dash of blight drones? What else can you fit into this combo?
Has anyone had success leavin the rhinos at home? They do always of course run the risk of first blood

So forge world units such as blight drone are allowed? Bcuz I see no daemon allies. If forge world is allowed then this changes the meta. Take more forgeworld units because from having to face an army full of these overpowered & undercosted units, it was just not fair fighting a bane blade, imperial warhound, whirlwind variants, lrbt variants, predator variants, land raider variants etc... Every army had some thing unfair on the forge world side. CSM had some good choices for forge world units, but I would not know of the hellblade or better land raider or even about the dread claw because I refuse to play with and against forge world piecies.

Our club only plays with 40k approved forge world pieces. Apoc models are reserved for apoc.

When I look at the heavy slots I only see Obliterators. Sure laspreds are cheap but they have an AV, and that means they can be insta gibbed. They also can only kill armor reliably. The Obs kill horde, tanks, flyers, elite, whatever. Forge/Mauler fiends suffer the same fate as the pred but with even less AV.
The only elites that aren't also able to be troops are termicide squads.
HQs unmarked sorcerers, juggylords, typhus, nurgle bike lord, these are all solid choices.
at almost 2k I'm bringing at least 6 obliterators if not all 9.

Typhus and a termicide combo melta squad is something I'm testing as well on top of 6 oblits at 1850

Something new ive been testing out. I really cnt be bothered converting my oblits (GW oblits look terrible)
So I'm trying to make forgefiends work as much more of a threat. Here's what I'm thinking.
Nurgle Lord
Plague marines x7 double Plas - 3 units
Heldrake x2
Forgefiend x2 ectoplas
Forgefiend x1 hades
Herald of Tz x2 disc, mastery lv3
Bloodletters x10
Divination on the heralds. Anyone got suggestions making this work?
