I originally played Tyranids in Epic back when they were first released, but I never got into them in 40k. I've been sitting on this 2nd edition Hive Tyrant for a long time, and finally I decided to take a break from my Dark Eldar and paint him up. The original paint scheme seemed too busy, so I decided to go with a Leviathan paint scheme.

That works REALLY well. Far better than the 'how many colours can we use on a model?' schemes of 2nd ed 'nids...

It's amazing what a fresh paintjob can do for an old model.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Thanks for all the kind words. I also have about 5-6 2nd Edition Tyranid Warriors that I was thinking of painting up. I primed the Hive Tyrant grey and worked the white up in layers, I was thinking of trying to prime them white and see if it's a little easier to shade them down.

Such a cool model! You've done it justice with an awesome paint job.
