so i got in an argument with a friend over this, combat ended and i only had my overlord left in my unit and he lost 2 guys, initiative rolls show i failed and got sweeped after failing my leadership.

at this point i layed my guy on his side and he asked why, i told him it was for my ever living roll and he said i couldnt.

basically he showed my the sweeping advance rule that basically said you cant survive a sweep, the bit he focused on was "at this point no special rules unless it specifically says so can save the unit from the sweeping advance"

after he read it i told him that ever living wasnt trying to save the unit, my overlord was clearly dead.

basically my argument was that ever living/reanimation protocols doesnt save the unit from being removed as casualties it simply allows you to later place them back on the board were they were removed.

he was having non of it and by the end started repeating "yea but the rules are specific over general and this specifically says no special rule can save the unit"

so i gave up and let him win, hind sight i would have said "and ever living specifically says you can replace models removed as casualties which is what sweeping advance does"

This is argued extensively in several threads that pop up from time to time. There is no clear consensus on it.
