Had a 2000 point game with my buddy a couple of days ago and this is how it went!

Just to let everyone know there are some proxies in this game so I apologize for that, I’ll let you know what is being proxied as what in the pictures. And the reason for some of the household objects for terrain… well somebody forgot to bring some terrain… (cough) it was me (cough)

This is the terrain set up (the giant blue pot is actually a very elaborate elder structure…)

The grey block like objects we treated as ruins so it was 3” to get up on top of them. The Elaborate blue Eldar structure was treated as impassable terrain. The Salt and Pepper Shak… I mean the monuments were also impassable terrain and the Aegis Defense Lines were just defense lines. The Wrecked tau vehicles were treated like wrecked vehicles described in the vehicle damage chart.

So we rolled off and Eldar won the option to deploy first and did so.

The Vehicles and Wraith Lords are all WYSIWYG but the random 4 man squads of dire avengers are actually Guardian Jet bike Squads same with the 3 man fire warrior squad. The large squad right behind the tau Vehicle is the seer council on jetbikes. The wave serpent on the left has the 5 man Fire Dragon Squad. The next wave serpent closest to the Wraith Lords has the 6 man Fire Dragon Squad and the last Wave serpent has the Dire Avengers.

Starting from the left the blue Daemon Prince is the Heavy support Daemon Prince from the Chaos Daemon Detachment, then the Lord of change. The Pink daemon Prince is the HQ choice from the CSM Detachment, The Fantasy Hellcannons are my conversions for Hell cannons of Khorne and the Vindicator is in between them. Finally the Herald of Tzeentch is hiding with his squad of Grey Horrors… I mean Pink horrors.

In Reserve is the Heldrake, 10 Cultists and, the 2 10 man Squads of Plague Bearers


First Turn

Eldar Movement
So After a failed Attempt at stealing the initiative the Eldar start of their turn.

The Wraithlord gets prescience casted on it, Fortune is casted on the seer council

The Wave serpent on my Right Flank moves up close to my long table edge being escorted by two 4 man Gaurdian Jetbike Squads.
The Seer council land ontop of the blue Eldar structure. The Wave Serpents on my Left flank do the Truffle shuffle to get their jink save and to get prepared for the expected movement of the flying Monsters. The Wraithlord walk up the center six inches

Eldar shooting
The Wraith lords and Wave serpents and Jet bikes on the left flank open up on the Lord of change only causing 2 unsaved wounds.

The Eldar on my Right Flank open up on the Pink Daemon Prince do 1 unsaved wound to it.

Eldar Assualt
The Gaurdian Jetbikes do their Assualt Moves and the seer council stay up on their perch.

Chaos Movement
All 3 Flying Monstrous Creatures do not cast any powers and fly up 24” on the left flank. The Herald of Tzeentch attempts to cast forewarning on the vindicator on 3d6 (thanks runes of warding…) and rolls a 10 and successfully casts it!

The vindi Moves up the Middle and the Skull Cannons of Khorne go 6” towards their respective flanks.

The Pink Horror Squad moves behind the Vindi and the Herald tosses his Portal Glyph towards the center of the table and rolls a direct hit!

Sadly no Daemons decided to pop out of the Portal Glyph this turn

Chaos Shooting
Warp Storm Table Rolls the Dark Prince Thirsts, Manages to hit the Skull Cannon of Khorne on the left and a guardian jetbike squad. 6 hits allocated to the Skull cannon but no Penetrating hits and 4 hits allocated to the Bikes which amounts to 2 dead.

The Vindicator Shoots at the Wraithlord closest to the Blue Eldar Structure and wounds it. The Skull Cannons of Khorne open up on the middle Wave serpent and only manage to get 1 glancing hit.

The Blue Daemon Prince takes his lance shot but fails to do anything and the LoC and Pink daemon Prince run.

Second turn

Eldar Movement
The Wraithlord gets prescience casted on it, Fortune is casted on the seer council again. And The Pink Daemon Prince gets Doomed! (failed the 4+ DtW)

Starting on my Right Flank The Wave Serpent with 5 Fire Dragons moves up closer to the grey block of a ruin, the 2 man Guardian squad who just watched their squad mates be eaten by Slaanesh move up behind the Defense line in the middle of the table, the four man squad shuffles to get a cover save but hardly moves. The 6 man Fire dragon Squad get out prepared to unload melta into a certain pink daemon Prince

The Wraithlord closest to the Blue Eldar Structure moves towards the pink daemon prince, The other Wraith lord moves around the Grey Ruin preparing for a possible charge against the LoC if it can get grounded.

The seer council jumps down preparing itself to also charge the LoC. A Gaurdian Jetbike Squad on the left flank jumps over to the Monument Salt and Pepper Shakers to help force those crucial grounding tests.

Eldar Shooting Phase
The Pink daemon Prince is grounded after taking shots from a Prescience’d Wraithlord. The Fire dragons then proceed to try and melt the Pink daemon Prince’s face off hit’s with the flamer and only 3 melta shots, wounds with 3 melta shots and the Invun roll was… 5, 5, 6! The Daemon Prince is still alive and kicking!

He then proceeds to take plasma gun shots from the Wave Serpents and dies. First blood to Eldar!

Gaurdian Jet bikes close to the Salt and Pepper Shakers fire at the LoC and roll 1 hit and no wounds… the LoC fails his grounding test. The 2nd Wraithlord fires at the LoC along with the Seer council but failed to do anything.

The Eldar on the Right Flank and the 2 Jetbikes in the middle fire on the painted Skull Cannon but either miss or are saved the it’s invun save.

Eldar Assualt Phase
The seer council needs a 9 to charge the LoC but roll 6 and a 2, but having fleet the Eldar player rerolls the 2 and ends up charging 10” The Wraithlord that fired on the LoC also joins that combat. My LoC challenges out the Wraithlord (because it can’t refuse) the Wraith Lords HoW does an unsaved wound and proceeds to die instantly because of the LoC’s Warlord trait. (I forgot to roll to see if I get a free spawn as well) The seer council passes it’s moral test.

The Gaurdian Jet bikes hanging around the Shakers only jump 3” and all the other Jet bikes don’t move very far.

Chaos Movement
The HoT attempts to cast Scriers Gaze and fails and takes perils. The LoC casts misfortune on the seer council and rolls a 10! The seer council fail to deny the witch.

But that is where my luck stops and I roll for reserves. Plague bearer squad 1, roll a 1. Plague Bearer Squad 2, roll a 1. Heldrake, roll a 1. Cultists, roll a 6!!! Clearly the cultists wanted to join this party so I move them up from my long table edge attempting to go for the Eldar objective and to get linebreaker.

The left Skull cannon Moves towards the Jetbikes near the Shakers and the right one moves towards my right flank wave serpent (both are setting up for a charge)

The Vindicator moves behind the Portal Glyph and the Blue Daemon prince jumps right behind the seer council preparing for his charge as well.

I forgot to roll for my warpstorm table!

The Vindicator blasts the Wraith lord, scattering to just barely hit the wraithlord and hitting 3 Fire dragons. I do 1 more wound to the Wraithlord and kill the Fire dragon exarch and 1 Fire dragon.

Chaos Assualt
The Blue Daemon Prince charges into the seer council

The 2 Skull cannons of Khorne charge their respective targets successfully

The Seer council fight see’s the LoC challenging out a Warlock, The LoC kills the Warlock and the Warlock fails to do anything. The Blue Daemon Prince decides that it is better to stand there looking intimidating instead of actually fighting. The seer council ends up pulling a wound off the daemon prince and it is a tie combat. A spawn spawns from the challenge between the LoC and warlock. (I forgot to put him down before I took the picture btw)

The Skull cannon on my left kills 3 Jet bikes and the lone Jet bike fails moral and falls back

The Skull cannon on the right scores 3 penetrating hits. Rolling Crew Shaken and 2 Immobilized results. The Fire dragons hop out and have to snap fire on their next turn.

Third Turn
Spoiler:

Eldar Movement
The Farseers cast Prescience and Fortune on the Seer council, and attempt to doom the Blue Daemon Prince but he DtW.

The Jetbike squad that last combat last turn rally and don’t retreat off the board.

The last Wraithlord moves towards the Skull Cannon close to the Salt and pepper Shakers lining up for a charge

The 2 man squad of jetbikes fly behind the Skull cannon of Khorne that had just recently destroyed the wave serpent

And the 3 man jetbike squad that has been holding back finally flies up to the middle

Eldar Shooting

The Fire Dragons kill the freshly spawned spawn

The Jetbikes open up on the Skull Cannon on my right flank but only get a glancing hit through

The Wraithlord attempts to shoot at the other Skull cannon but fails to do anything

Other things shot but also did nothing

Eldar Assualt
The Wraith Lord assaults the Skull cannon, gets a penetrating hit through with its hammer of wrath but only scoring Crew Stunned, The Wraith Lord hits with all attacks and all pen… but all are saved!

The seer council combat see’s the LoC challenge out a Warlock again. The Warlock does a wound and the LoC fails to do anything but the Daemon Prince finally pulls his weight and kills a couple of Warlocks. The Seer council holds though. 2 spawn are created from the Daemon Prince

Bikes Jump around a bit.

Chaos Movement
The Herald attempts Scriers Gaze again… and perils to death. I choose not to cast anything else especially since my LoC has 1 wound left

Onto reserves! Plague Bearers both roll 1’s but!! The Heldrake rolls a 2 this time… so no reserves this turn

The Skull cannon that was in combat with the Wraithlord moves back an inch preparing his counter charge.

The other Skull cannon lines up his charge against the 3 man Jet bike Squad.

The Spawn line up their charge against the Fire Dragons.

I proceed to forget to move the cultists

Finally! 6 Bloodletters decide it’s time to join the battle and pop out of the Portal glyph.

Chaos Shooting
Warp Storm rolls up Khorne’s wrath but after a couple of dice rolls the Eldar are sparred from any detrimental effects (clearly Khorne was not feeling as wrathful that day)

The Vindicator tries to shoot at a lone jet bike model in the middle of the board but does nothing to it.
The Pink Horrors Manifest their psychic power but fail to do any damage to the 2 man Jet bike Squad

Chaos Assault
Skull cannons of Khorne Charge their targets and the 6 man bloodletters squad assists with taking down the Wraithlord.

The 3 man Jet bike squad is crushed under the wheels of the Skull cannon of Khorne.

The Wraithlord combat see’s the Bloodletters barely taking down the 1 wound wraithlord.

The seer council combat see’s the death of the LoC but the Daemon Prince is able to win the combat but the Seer council holds. Slay the Warlord victory point goes to elder!)

Fourth Turn
Spoiler:

Eldar Movement
The Eldar cast Fortune and Prescience and fail to get doom off.

The lone Jetbike shot by the Vindicator jumps behind previously mentioned Vindicator.

The 2 man Squad of Gaurdian jetbikes retreats back towards the right of the Wave serpent on my right flank.

The Fire Dragons who have now shaken off the effects of crew shaken go and seek revenge towards the Skull cannon of Khorne that destroyed their transport.

The Dire avengers still do not leave their transport.

Eldar Shooting
The 2 Wave serpents on my left flank unload onto the Bloodletters reducing them to 1 man.

The Fire dragons see it fit to blow up the Skull cannon of Khorne on my right flank

Finally the last Gaurdian jetbike behind the vindicator unloads it’s Shurican cannon into it’s rear armour and destroys its gun.

Eldar Assault
The Fire dragons are wiped out and the blue Daemon prince challenges a farseer and he accepts.

The Farseer with the power Prescience ends up being squished between the Daemon Princes heel.

Chaos Movement
A plague bearer Squad does not come out but the heldrake and the other plague bearer squad do. The plague bearers try to deep strike close to the elder objective but scatter 8” towards my opponents short table edge and mishap. My opponent deploys them onto the corner of the board near the cultists.

The Heldrake comes on and vector strikes the 2 man jet bike squad killing the squad and lines up to flame the Fire Dragons in the shooting phase.

The skull cannon of Khorne lines up a shot against the last Jet bike and the pink horrors maneuver around the hopefully take some pot shots at em.

The cultists move up towards the Eldar objective

The Spawn both move to each wave serpent intent on doing some damage to them.

1 bloodletter pops out of the Portal glyph

The other bloodletter moves towards the Seer council combat.

Chaos Shooting
The Pink horrors peril and do not fire. The skull cannon hits the Jet bike but fails to do anything.

The heldrake uses his baleflamer and Daemon Forge Ability. Sets fire to the Fire Dragons and destroys the squad.

Chaos Assault
The Daemon Prince fails to do anything and takes 2 wounds in return

The Chaos spawn each take a hull point off the wave serpents but the Dire Avengers wave serpent which is the farthest to my left ends up getting crew stunned.

Fifth Turn

Eldar Movement
The Wave serpents move back so that they don’t take any more hits from the Spawn. The lone jetbike moves into my deployment zone to score line breaker.

Eldar Shooting
The Wave serpents manage to kill off a spawn

Eldar assault
The daemon prince kills a warlock in the combat and takes one more wound in return. A spawn, spawns to replace the dead spawned spawn…

Chaos Movement
The last Plague bearer squad deepstrikes and attempts to land on the elder objective they scatter 8” towards the cultists

The heldrake with nothing to do sets his eyes on the lone Jet bike…

1 Spawn decide it would be good to take out a wave serpent. The other spawn moves towards the seer council

The Cultists Move behind the recently deep striked Plague bearers.

The bloodletters move towards the seer council combat along with the last skull cannon of khorne

Nothing comes out of the portalglyph

Another victim falls to the heldrakes flames

Everything charges their respective targets

The empty wave serpent ends up getting destroyed but nothing happens to the dire avenger wave serpent.

The seer council combat see’s the Daemon prince challenging the last Farseer. Nothing happens and the skull cannon of Khorne, the spawn and the 2 bloodletters fail to do anything to the lone warlock. The warlock seeing his impending doom lashes out at the bloodletters. Banishing both back to the warp. The seer council proceeds to win the combat and the Daemon Prince dies to daemonic instability!!

My opponent rolls to see if the game ends, he rolls a 2

Eldar: 2 (first blood, Slay the warlord)
Chaos: 4 (Objective, linebreaker)

Robitus:
Well that was a very bloody battle! It was one of those games where it was completely back and forth the whole time and it was hard to predict who would come out on top! I had faith in my diabolic and evil army and they just pulled the win right at the end. I think if my opponent pulled those dire avengers out to grab the objective turn 5 this would have been a very different story. But alas hindsight is 20/20
