Deep into the webway lies a city, the city of the dark elder. Commorragh. This massive city has stood within the webway for longer than any dark elder, arguably before the fall of the elder itself, in a galaxy ever changing by the tides of war it is a single place were destruction can never touch from an outside source. But it is not the only one...

The webway is, at its most basic elements, corridors linking sections of space, think of space as a curved line, this line rises up to the peak of existence becoming more horizontal until the moment it touches and then slowly falling downwards again to the bottom of existence to repeat it, like from a side view space is a wave. Well the webway are hundreds of tiny corridors slicing through this wave, and were they touch webway entrances appear in physical space. From set places you can more quickly reach other set places if you can enter the webway. No one can say for sure if the entire webway is connected or if it is splintered into sections because some corridors just never cross each other, some places within the webway may just never connect to physical space and be empty for all eternity. But the entire webway shares one feature, no matter where you go ever turn leads to an exit eventually, Commorragh lies in the centre of millions of these points were thousands of these corridors all become concurrent into a giant chamber, the city lies within it.

Commorragh is not the only one...

I said all webway corridors end in an exit, well all but one. During the war in heaven the necrons forcibly entered the webway with technological advanced non can even hope to comprehend, power great enough to literally blow a hole between the physical world and the webway, even if only for a moment. When the necrons entered the webway they set courses to travel down every single corridor, to find every single place the old ones could be hiding, by a process of elimination with drones. One returned, only one, with a report of a dead end. The silent king was no fool, a massive space station was set under construction, tucked away from the eyes of the old ones, this station was massive, the station was too large for even the necrons to power from conventional methods, and they were forced to more, unorthodox, methods. And so it was that this massive station larger than planets, larger than stars, entered the webway, its course was to this pocket that led to no were. It still stands today.

Unlike any other necron structure, this city did not enter the great sleep. No one has found this city since it was placed inside the webway, no one knows why is suddenly begun to mobilize, maybe it had kept track of the great sleep and knew the necrons were awakening. None the less ever necron upon this city didn’t corrode by hibernating, they raided the galaxy for supplies constantly, they knew of the great crusade and the Horus heresy, they watch the fall, and they have seen the current war. All this time they made more and more necrons, abducting entire fleets into the webway and transforming them into experimental necrons, within this city every necron from a simple warrior to the most might of phearon has a full personality and thought pattern. Ever soldier has constantly trained and been redesigned and rebuilt for the moment they would make their return; they had even devised a full war strategy, plans to deliver fleets to key points across the galaxy. They had planned to release entire war fleets from the webway and/or warp to mars, holy terra, ultramar, fenris, baal, titan, and that’s only the human targets, there were also to prepare ambushes to nearly every elder craftworld as they passed webway entrances. They were also to release a massive fleet at the eye of terror to crush the chaos fleet on defence and open it up for exterior invasion. Places like Armageddon and other places of high ork or tyranid infestation were to be hit with organic matter consumption bombs. The tau were to be avoided as they had decided this race evolving so quickly both organically and technologically made them the perfect candidate for the necron ultimate plan. And so as the fleets, larger than that which had previously conquered the galaxy during the great crusade left their home and into the larger webway for the first time in aeons they detected something. And it detected them. Something was out there, something that was already reacting as entire fleets of ships started to be detected approaching from all side.

That something was Commorragh.
