I am debating on getting either a Dakkajet or a doom sycthe but i do not know which one would be better to choose. any suggestions?

First off which army do you collect? Necrons or Orks?

My opinion would be get a Dakkajet for Orks, even though most people will tell you to get a Doom scthye mainly because the Dakkajet is one of the best units availabe to Orks atm imo as it has a decent Str and the volume of shots are quite a bit. The doomscythe is an ant-tank destroyer plus the AA guns it has hence why people will tell you to get the Doom scythe, but ultimatly it is the force your fighting against that matters, as A doom scythe will not really help you against a horde/blob of something and a Dakkajet will not help you against a heavily armoured vehicle.

Which army do you collect?

If its for just painting purposes, I would personally get the dakkajet as it is a much more characterful kit..

I have both, the jet sees more play. The nice thing about the scythe models is they are very easy to convert so you can play doom or night. I almost never play doom scythe as it kinda sucks. Its 175 points for armor 11 flyer, it gets killed very easily. It can't fire its main gun at flying targets either. Overall the cheaper planes like the dakkajet and nightscythe win out in our play.

I like the doomscythe for dealing with 2+ armor dudes. Deathwing dropping in on you? No problem! Monstrous creature running amuck? This will definitely put at least a serious dent in him/her. While I don't play orks their flyers are av10 and their shooting, while it is a huge volume of shots, hits on BS2, right? Sorry, it's gotta be a doomscythe....

I play both Orks and Necrons and while I play with a Night Scythe, I have rarely played with a Doom Scythe. As for the Dakkajet, it's turned into a staple unit of my army and after the first time playing it I wanted a second.

If I had to choose between a Dakkajet and a Doom Scythe, it'd be more Dakka!

I like the scythes but I like the dakkajet more. You're really free to go crazy with modifications and paint schemes, plus spraying that much dakka is a blast.

Actually its BS3 and its also twin-linked so that's 4++ to hit

Dakka jet!! For the reasons given plus the huge amount of bits left over in the kit and the customisation that can be done to it.

It depends both on opposition and reasoning. The jet kit is customisable as hell (GW proves that with kit bask in WD) and so for coolness I agree, jet. However as a I regularly play SM opponents the scythes ray annihilates just about, well, everything, and the destructor is a briliant secondary, whereas the AP4 jet will be lucky to kill anymore than 2/3 a turn, plus it is much more vulnerable and less adaptable.
So for the model I'd go jet, but in game a scythe.
Or you could use both in an alliance, save all the fuss
