Hi Dakka,

I have been looking over the net for a bit of clarification on a few questions.

Firstly a missleside with TL HYMP, SMS and two missle drones. The missleside has EWO and VT. The enemy flies on a storm raven. Do I get to fire the missle drones as well as the missleside?

The second scenario is deep striking termies - in this situation do I get to fire the HYMP and the SMS and the drones?

Broadsides can only take one Support item, so no EWO and VT.

The EWO says that all weapons on the model have the Interceptor rule. The drones have nothing giving them Interceptor so they could not fire.

Anything that enters the table from reserves can be fired at with Interceptor (Outflanking, Deep Striking, Drop Pods, etc...) as long as they in range at the end of their movement phase.

The EWO and VT only apply to the model that has it, it does not get conferred to the unit as a whole.

Yes on the missiles, no on the drones (see above for why).

Yeah, that is the limitation of the Tau.

All these great specialized systems, and all the rules which relate to them are limited to individual models that have said systems. Okay, while that is technically true there are a few special rules that have a squad wide bonus if even one model has them, so a few systems do give a squad wide boon. Interceptor is not one of the later though, sorry but do keep in mind that the Early Warning Over-ride does allow all weapons to gain interceptor so a 'missileside' interceptor team may have enough shots to land one or two even at snapshotting.

So yeah, It either becomes very expensive to outfit all the models in a squad so they can be most effective at a single task, Velocity Tracker I am looking at you. You also have the annoying restriction due to a limited number of slots on each model. That is assuming you have slots to begin with, of course. Soooo many goodies and you can't take them all...
