Thinking of whether to take Bloodthirster or Skarbrand to be my Word Bearers Ally.

LET THE DEBATE BEGIN.

Skarbrand - cheapest, slow, kills almost anything it touches
Bloodthirster - expensive, faster, also kills almost anything it touches, can take gifts

The point difference isn't that big, but the BT is just so much faster and will still kill almost anything. It can also take gifts which can make it nigh on unkillable (4+ FNP is just sick).

There's no debate. It boils down to wings vs no wings. Wings in this example are vastly superior. Skabrand is powerful but too easy to avoid. The BT is very, very hard to out manoeuvre.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

I'd take skarbrand if using deamons in cc as his area buff of hate/rage is damn good, but he's slow. Otherwise the basic thirster with exhaulted and greater gifts works for me his speed and power means what he hits is generally going to die.

Plus if you're taking Demons as an allie, you're not getting Skarbrand's warlord trait. Bloodthirster all day in this scenario

There's no debate, Skarbrand is almost never better in an actual game than a Bloodthirster.

He's only better in hypothetical scenarios that are extremely unlikely to actually happen.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

I don't rate ID highly but he is less scary without it, the only real way skarbrand is better than a blodthirster is that you can do an awesome double axe mangled wings conversion

Skarbrand is awesome when he is surrounded by slaanesh units for re-rolls. As mentioned above, greater gifts are just amazing. Take 2 greater and 1 lesser gift on a bloodthirster and call it good.

Worst case is you roll the +3 armor save, in the event it happens. Roll your second dice, then if you get the +3 again you can re-roll and take the blade of blood to give mr. bloodthirster rampage.

A related question.
Is a Bloodthirster reason enough to take daemon allies over Necron or IG?

Consider the following on that notion minigun762

He is simply an HQ choice
He can fly (IE hard to hit = forcing snap shots)
He is I10 and mangles pretty much anything
He can get a hilarious amount of customization
Unlocks Daemon Princes as HS which is not bad either

Well I'm biased as I am already trying to find the points to fit one in with my CSMs.
I was more thinking in a general sense.

Honestly, I would take IG and just run a squadron of Vendetta along side a cheap HQ + Small Troop blob.

Cuz everyone loves Vendetta
Vendetta + Helturkey = You lose friends though :(
