The codex has seen enough play to judge them in all objectivity.
They are a bit cheaper then a squad full of TH/SS and have a better WS. Additionally they do terrible things to CSM but would you field them? And how? Is there another viable way without fielding them in a LRC?

LRC is the best, most reliable way to get them where they need to be (combat). I find them to be a great unit, even not against CSM. T5 WS5 just makes them a tough CC unit on top of their 2+/3++.

Even if they aren't demolishing their target, their target usually isn't demolishing them.

Either LRC or with Belial for no scatter turn 1 DS. If you use Belial I recommend going all out with a full 10 man unit. Expensive as hell (~650 points) But it will scare the crap out of your opponent and may actually survive anything he throws at them.

I've been pleasantly surprised every time I've used them. It's not only the WS5 T5, they have so many other bonuses (that I often forget to use ;P)

Hammer of Wrath
Precision Strike

...and most importantly...

SMITE!

The ability to attack at S10 at initiative , with your full compliment of attacks, even only once a game is just incredible. Virtually anything dies. Other deathstars, monstrous creatures, vehicles, you name it. Now, mobility is certainly not their strong suit, so you have to get tactical.

You have to present more bad choices to your opponent. If deep striking them with Belial, you can't do it in isolation, even with a 10-man unit. DWA them with other terminator units and/or dreadnoughts, perhaps with some outflanking bikes. This is how the codex was meant to be played anyway.

In sum, they are pure win against CSM, and still a very solid unit in a TAC list.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

With a Libby (prescience) in a LRC (or redeemer)... Good stuff.

I like them in non-Deathwing armies as a semi-deathstar, they definitely need the LR to ensure the charge and prevent getting casualties prior to the assault.

I fly them around in a Caestus Assault Ram and the results are usually spectacular when they finally get into combat in turn three. Although tying up that amount of points in essentially a one-shot unit isn't great, neither is Deathwing... extremely fun though.

One gripe is the Deathwing Knight Master doesn't benefit from Smite, as he doesn't have the Mace of Absolution (He has the Flail instead.) so he kind of sits out during challenges. That said they have yet to encounter truly difficult opposition yet, but I personally think a unit of Black Knights for the same points cost will perform far better.
