I'm just thinking out loud. but after reading the universal rules again I found that shrouded and stealth applies to the entire unit if one model in the unit has this.

Shadowsun, may be a tad bit expensive but teamed up with pathfinders or any unit you wish to boost up survivability.

does this work? is this in practice or does the end not really justify the means?

I was just thinking of some pathfinders holed up in some ruins where they would not be the primary due to other resistance nearby or even a forest.
they would have a nice little cover save there.

mind you if someone really wanted them dead with some ignore cover weapons, that would be easy to make happen. but I would take that over their already squishy recon armor.

thoughts? am i missing something? or is it just not worth it?

cheers.

In my experience this would not be the best use of shadowsun. First is the obvious range difference, 36 vs 18 inches. When the pathfinders can shoot shadowsun likely can't. Second youre wasting shadowsuns amazing warlord trait 3d6 Jsj is amazing and synergizes especially well with stealth and shrouded. I would recommend running her with stealth suits or crisis, stealth for 4 infiltrating fusion shots (stealth team doesn't benefit from stealth and shrouded as they already have it.) or crisis who benefit immensely from stealth but can't infiltrate (hopefully the FAQ changes this.). I've heard some people make the case for putting her with a ruptide or kroot, and while I don't think those are the best choices they also arent necessarily bad. I would highly discourage putting shadowsun a 135 point model in a unit worth at most likely 110 points for a better cover save, because at that point you could instead just get another pathfinder squad.

Not really worth it. At least from my use of pathfinders it is not worth it. They are advance markerlight support for me and it doesn't make sense to tie shadow sun down with babysitting duties for a unit of pathfinders.

So if Shadowsun has infiltrate then can she give that to whatever squad she joins? If so you'd be better off the use here for forward deployment of your pathfinders and have a squad nearby(either infiltrate some stealths or maybe deepstrike some crisis?) for her to join on turn 2 or whatever.

Tyranids will consume the universe!!! There is no chance for survival!!
.........eventually anyways.........
