Hello kind of new coming back into Warhammer 40k proper after giving it a taste in 5th Ed. So after the disaster that was my space marine army where I didn't get a dedicated mode of transport for my minis meaning some got lost/broken etc ive decided to be a bit more methodical this time in how i plan out my army. My goal at the moment is a 1000 pt imperial guard hybrid gun-line army with vets in a vendetta for some late game objective capping. I will be using the Vostroyan models and will need the space to carry the following list of models and to be honest the large amount of available trays and cases available make picking a certain one to fulfill my needs daunting.

1 Leman Russ Executioner
1 Vendetta Gunship
1 Aegis Defense Line
3 heavy weapons teams
28 Guardsmen
1 Vostroyan Standard Bearer

I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me pick out the best case to carry all of this, my one concern at the moment is if I buy a bog standard carry case and then start cutting bits to store the tank/vendetta/defense line i wont end up with the right height or width etc.

Wasn't sure which area to post this in, if there is a more suitable forum for this to be in then I would kindly ask a mod to move it there.

Allright first question, do you plan to expand your army? if not, the GW suitcase might fitt you sure expensive but battlefoam etc kinda t ake the same price for sush price and therefor you should go for battlefoam! Or Kr multicase.

http://uk.battlefoam.com/432-p-a-c-k-432-pluck-foam-load-out-pre-order/

I find this one to suit most stuff and you get pluck foam wich means you can add the size you want.

Waagh like a bawz

Sabol Army Transports are the best overall case for price and protection.

Go to a hardware store, and get a dirtcheap toolbox, and packing foam. Glue the packing foam to the inside of the empty toolbox. Voilla.

I would recommend a KR multicase to any player but a horde/many vehicle player.

There are ALOT of threads on this all over the place.

couple of quickys to start you on your carry case journey though.

Piano gun cases (careful dont leave it in your car in the open)
KR mult case
Battlefoam
Sabol army transport (i dont really like this one i have it and its not in use)
Steel tool box with magnets on the bottom of your model (i like this method but also be careful not to leave it in your car/open)

To answer some questions at the moment I don't plan on expanding for quite a while I want to practice painting and learning how to play the game I may add some toys later on but as I said at the moment this is it.

I hate to keep asking a bunch of questions that have probably been asked before but basically will this fit into a small GW case or will I have to buy a bigger one to fit the tank/flyer in.

I am in the process of ordering a KR case for my space marines, so have gotten familer with their site. No foam on hand, and I'm not an IG player, so take this with a grain of salt...

http://www.krmulticase.com/trays.aspx?type=L&system=WH40K&army=IG&d=1

Is the KR page with the custom cut foam for the guard. IG11 looks to hold 2 tanks, a flyer, and 4 HWTs. That's pretty much everything but the troops and the ADL. You may be able to stick the ADL in the tank slot you are not using, I honestly can't answer that. You might want to look at the wall segments and a tank and see if they are about the same.

As IG11 is a 3/4 hight chunk of foam, you can fit a 1/4 tray on top of it. That's going to be a N4T or an M4T, depending on how tall your guys are. Or you could compromise and get one of each N4H and M4H (the half width versions).

IG11 + M4T is one of the stock IG sets (Imperial guard set C) So you should be able to choose a case you like, ranging for card stock to aluminum, choose custom foam, IG, set C, and be all set.

If you want a dedicated tray for your ADL, they make one; SM36. If you go this route though, you have more then one unit (KRU) of foam, so will need to get a bigger bag/case. And then figure out what to do with all the extra space.

While I'm sure you could get a similar set up from other companies, I'm not familiar with their websites enough to make recommendations.
