I have vallejo game color paints, and I got vallejo game color thinner (72073) with them when I bought them.

I am almost out of thinner, and I was looking online to buy more, but all I can find is the "model color" thinner (70524), not the "game color" thinner.

I can find the game color thinner 72073 on some abstract smaller sites, but I'm wondering if there is any difference between the 2 products?

I worry because model color is supposedly a different consistency than game color, and the description of the thinner says that it is the same consistency as the paint.

Does anyone know for certain if these two products are exactly the same? or are they different consistencies? Because I'd like to buy from a reputable retailer instead of some small place I've never heard of.

i'm pretty certain it's the same stuff. I ran out of vgc thinner and got a vmc thinner and notice no difference when using it. vgc paint consistency varies from colour to colour anyway, the thinner seems to be a constant.

So it doesn't thin then? adding two fluids of equal viscosity together isnt going to thin anything. Is it a medium rather than a thinner?

The liquid isn't thinner, rather, the pigment in the paint is spread over a larger volume, make it... thinner... appearing.

I see thats whats known as a medium, and could be descirbed as un-pigmented binder. For making transparent paints. Look at Liquitex, Golden or windsor and Newton acrylic mediums, they come in matte semi transparent, matte opaque, glossy semi transparent, glossy transparent glaze, low viscosity (actual thinner), texture's... and some other varieies.

Yould find them much better value per ml than any of the hobbyist brands, and every bit as high quality (if not better; liquitex basically invented acrylic paint.. theyre kind of the pro's)

Vallejo thinners on Wayland. The first one is a medium (generally called acrylic or matt medium to avoid confusion), the other two are accurately labeled thinners. If that helps hehe. I have a large bottle of vallejo thinners that's definitely not a medium. There's no need to get vallejo branded thinners, you'd be better off getting an identical product from a different, cheaper brand.

hmm, do you know if both vallejo game color thinner and vallejo model color thinner are both mediums? I know that model color is a medium, but I'm not sure if game color is a medium? I was feeling fairly secure that they were the same thing until you posted.
