I'm trying to pick a second army. To that end, I've been reading through codecies and designing army lists that I think are fluffy and would be fun to play, build and paint.

Like many 40k fans, I'm tickled pink by the silliness of Khorne. In designing a Khorne list, it seems straightforward. Assault things and kill them until there are no more things to kill. This is not designed to be a WAAC list, but rather a casual list that will make for fun games at my basement gaming table.

HQ - Chaos Lord - 135
- Mark of Khorne, Sigil of Corruption, Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol, Ichor Blood

TROOP 1 - Khorne Berserkers - 230
- Ten Strong, Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol

TROOP 2 - Khorne Berserkers - 230
- Ten Strong, Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol

TROOP 3 - Khorne Berserkers - 196
- Nine Strong, Power Weapon

HEAVY 1 - Chaos Land Raider - 235
- Dirge Caster

HEAVY 2 - Chaos Land Raider - 235
- Dirge Caster

HEAVY 3 - Chaos Land Raider - 235
- Dirge Caster

Everyone starts out in a land raider. Champion obviously rides with the troop of 9 berserkers. Kill things. Any thoughts?

Drop the Chaos Lord, the Plasma Pistols and some Power Weapons and take Kharn the Betrayer instead.

Just a tip, don't put the plasma pistol on the same man as the power weapon. That way if you get hot and die, you don't lose your power weapon too. Same rule applies in assaults and challenges...

Instead of Kharn, I say drop the plasma pistols and buy your lord the axe of blind fury, he'll be an absolute beast in CC with it.

Should be a fun list to play. Most people you face certainly won't be expecting three land raiders from a CSM list.

Kharn should be in this list over that chaos lord. For 25 more points you get a ferocious beat stick. Escort him up the field with cultists.

I want to run a list like this, but with more points running helldrakes, and deamons allies.

I think 3 raiders with zerkers is a strong core for an army, at least two raiders, but the 3rd raider is just badass.

I would drop two LR and make them rhinos with extra armor, dozer blade and dirge caster run them in a group of two. two squads of raptors with MOK. There is nothing more fluffy than kharn in a world eaters army!!!!!!!

Kharn is awesome but he dies so quickly. Also the AoBF is a daemon weapon giving you 2-6 extra attacks. So mark your lord, give him a sigil and the AoBF, and watch him wreck everything he faces.

Sadly I must disagree. Kharn has 6 attacks on the charge iirc, hits with everything but only 5 against the enemy and 1 against your own unit. He'll wound non-MCs on 2+, so 4-5 of those wound and its AP 2, and the 1 against your unit probably wounds too.

A lord with AoBF has (if you don't roll a one for the daemon weapon) 9-13 (we'll avg it to 11) attacks on the charge hits most things on 3s so that's 7-8 hits, wounds most non-MCs on 3s, so 4-5 of those hits wound and the also AP 2. And I didn't kill any of my own guys. So sorry, but AoBF is better and it's even better when you take it on a juggerlord with another attack.

And all of that math was without factoring in hatred which both can have against at least some units and it helps the chaos lord way more than Kharn.

Either way you need melta bombs IMO for other AV14 and AV13 walkers. A fluffy Iron hands list with 3 Iron clads might hurt otherwise XD

He's not going to hit his own unit unless he rolls a one twice because of his warlord trait, and he has 7 attacks on the charge, doesn't risk a daemon weapon wound and always hits on twos

You really want a fluffy Khorne list? Back in the days of 2nd edition 40k, each of the Chaos Gods had a sacred number. Khorne's sacred number was 8. Reduce the number of Berserkers to 8 per squad and find points for one more unit for a total of 8 units in the army.

True about the sacred number. in 4ht edition you got one troop upgraded to a champion for free if you ran the sacred number. raptor will help you out though. fly in melta things then charge.

Really cool army, I want to run this list but with helldrakes and daemons allies in 2500 points.

Why choose? Run a lord AoBF and Kharn. Zerkers themselves dont warrant LRs but zerkers + lord almost does.

Also csm with mok votlw and bolter swapped for cc wep are better than zerkeres point for point imo- esp when you put em in a squad with a lord. (use zerker models to represent em too.

Zerkers and CSM/Mok are the same thing but no WS5 right? Also, 4 points cheaper?

This list really needs heldrakes to support your assault units

I agree, at 1500 I would at least have 1 Helldrake, 2 helldrakes would be badass though.
