Hi there - here are some attempts at US armour -

The M4A3(late) in the middle is GW Deathworld Forest, the rest are Vallejo Brown Violet, however the difference doesn't come across very well via the wonders of my phone camera. Brown Violet is better, I've come to the conclusion 4 Vallejo paints are required if (like me) you already have a large GW paint collection - Brown Violet, Khaki, Green Grey and US Field Drab. The rest GW can do a decent job of.

I've also experimented with Micro Sol and Set, but I haven't done a very good, they all still look like transfers, more work required. Still have to try camo nets, foliage, Culin cutters, stowage and all that.

Any C&C welcome, enjoy dudes

Looking good!

Perhaps splotch some dirt on the transfers (brown paint of some sort - graveyard earth was ideal when that was still around). That will nicely cover up the transfers. If you have too much shine on them then give the models a coat of matt varnish too and then the transfers will look much more natural.

I've done just the above on the transfers on these brit tanks:

If you lay down a coat of gloss varnish, at least where the transfer goes, before applying the transfer it will get rid of the frosting. From there, Micro Sol/Set and a top coat of matte spray will usually leave the transfer looking like part of the model.

Hi again - followed the advice above to produce my final test model -

That about as good as I can do , I think the transfer looks pretty good, it is lightly weathered but doesn't come across on the pic too well. Thanks for the advice, now the test models are complete -

it's on to the Big Push -
