Subject: Shuriken Catapult 12" range?

Ok. this maybe more of a WTF then an actual rules question. But shuriken catapults have the same range as a shuriken pistol? That seems really weak for the technologically superior Eldar. And isn't that the Dire Avengers' main weapon, and them being a shooting unit not an assault? Seems really bizarre.

Wait. New codex comes out soon. Ranges may change. Note, however, that in the current codex Dire Avengers do not use standard Shuri-cats.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I preferred them back before 3rd ed turned them into crap weapons.
GW changed them because you can't have filty xenos with better weapons than marines (as standard). It was like giving your basic cheap troops storm bolters for free.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

It made sense in 4th edition when the codex was written, they were basically bolters but they gave up the ability to stand still and fire a single shot up to 24 inches.
It forced Eldar players into the mobile mindset of the army, by giving no major benefit to standing still. It's the same reason they use Weapon Platforms, instead of just sticking some schmuck toting around a Bright Lance into the team.
Of course, 6th edition made it so Rapid Fire weapons could fire to full range while on the move, so suddenly, the Shuriken Catapult looks a lot more lacklustre than it used to be.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).
