Hi all,
My radeon 7750 really needs an upgrade so I'm going to be getting a 7850, and I wanted to check something. Obviously I need to uninstall the drivers of my current card, but should I uninstall the catalyst control center aswell?
Sorry for the noob question. I've had a search for the correct process. I've read that you should uninstall it, but I think that might be in case you get an Nvidia card, right?

I don't think you need to as it is just as it say's the control center, they only have 1 version so I assume it's the same one for all ATI cards

Yep, get rid of it. I can't categorically say that the Control Center saves certain configurations based on the card's type, but I can't say that it doesn't either, and I doubt anyone else here will be able to tell you either way.
So it's best to be on the safe side - remove it just in case, for the same reasons you remove the drivers first too.

CcC will automatically change settings for the new card. I do a lot of bench marking. Some time I will change cards 20 times in a night. And Ccc will always sort itself out. The drivers are the same for every card as well. It's not like the old days when you need a new driver for every single different card.
The only time you need to worry is if you go from AMD cards to Nvidia. And if you do that I recommend using cc cleaner after installation, to completely remove old drivers.
But if you get a new AMD card then you don't have to worry. And if you haven't decided yet. If you have the money get a 7970, if you want to save some money you can get a 7870, and over clock it so it runs the same as a 7950.

Thanks for the replies all.
@ cerbrus2 - Great response, thank you! The reason i'm limiting myself to a 7850 is that my processor is only an FX4100, and after a bit of research I found it was the best it could manage without overclocking (which I'm not really comfortable with)

Well, that proves me wrong. Good to know - thanks. Though... for your sake, I hope you do this for a living. That amount of switching would drive me mad!!
