Recently decided to pick up fantasy with tomb kings. I was really pumped to paint this thing up so it is literally the only thing out of all my new tomb king stuff that is assembled and fully painted. It's currently not glued to the base, though if I did I would have a better time closing the gaps you can see between the sand. The only thing stopping me is whether or not that would be a legal base for a game or if it is too big? Anyway, hope you like it!

This looks really awesome mate! One problem, I know you're trying to go for the withered skin look on your head honcho bloke there, but it's a bit too flat and grey for my liking, still amazin'! ^_^

Thanks! What do you suggest for the skin then? Just a highlight or something?

If I were you, I'd probably whack a brown or black wash on it, depending on what sort of thing you're going for.. If you want completely withered and screwed up skin, then go for the black, if you're thinking newly revived priest bloke, then go for a brown wash It's really up to you ^_^ Or you could add a highlight, yeah

I hadn't noticed on the first look-through that the head priest was supposed to still be a little fleshy. Yeah, I would definitely recommend hitting him with a brown wash! Great work, incidentally. Good unity of color, and awesome job keeping it complex enough to seem realistic while at the same time keeping it simple enough to not distract the eye.

The bone and flesh areas are a touch rough and flat, respectively, but I love the electric blue and deep gold combination. No idea what the legal base size is, but I'd definitely put some more work into it, if you keep it. Gap aside, the large expanse of sand is rather plain. That's fine if it's a thematic choice, but a few additional details (the odd skull/bone, a few small rocks, etc.) might jazz it up nicely while keeping the attention on the model. The main issue I have with it, though, is that it's unpainted. You'd think that nothing looks more like sand than sand, but unpainted natural materials tend to look out of scale next to painted models. Counter-intuitive as it is, I highly recommend painting your sand... to look like sand.

well done. i feel the fleshy boney bits are too dark could use a bit more highlighting.

Thanks, I'll have to add the highlight when I find time. Painting the sand is a good idea too. I figured, "hey, sand, in a desert themed army, shouldn't have to paint that right?" Though I have seen some tutorials around on painting sand to look like sand It'll just mean I have to tape up the wood around my base before I prime it. As for the size, I think I'll just eventually glue the casket to the base (so I can fill in those gaps) and for purposes of measuring, have both my opponent and myself measure to and from the casket, not the base.

Awesome work mate. The only thing that stands out to me is how stark the skulls on the altar are. I usually hit mine with a sepia wash of some kind, but thats just my .02.
Again, great work.
