Greetings!

I must have ghosted this site for two years before I actually signed on.

Anyway, I've been interested in wargaming/modeling since I was about 12, but I really couldn't afford the models back then. I got really interested towards the end of high school when a buddy introduced me to the hobby proper. I had been very fortunate to discover a clearance basket of blisters at a local hobby store. The manager saw me rummaging through the large number of models and offered the entire basket to me for $40 USD. I grabbed it not knowing what I had. My buddy quickly figured out that I had almost a complete dark elf army, minus some troop choices. Probably not the best army for beginner, bust for $40 I couldn't complain!

I liked putting together the elves, but after I started playing with a friend's imperial guard and space marines (this guy had every army at the time I think. He must have spent thousands on the hobby), I realized that I really liked 40k. Nevertheless, I soon went off to college and was more interested in girls, beer, and my studies.

I transferred schools and am back in my hometown now. We have a few hobby shops around and the GW store in town has developed a really solid community. I have made a few good friends despite some other problems I had there (explained in another post).

I had to take a break this semester since my courses became very heavy (I've entered my senior seminar courses. One semester left!), but this summer I am trying to take a lot of time for myself, and I have noticed that I am more interested in painting and modeling than actually painting. I am working on a dreadnought right now and am really proud of it. A friend of mine who doesn't game looked at it and thought that it was very well done and thought that I have spent a large amount of time on it. It felt good to hear that, but I just had to show him the galleries on this site. It was pretty funny to see his jaw hit the floor.

My favorite army right now is space marines, but I'm really interested in painting a wide variety of models in different color scmemes to improve my skills. I have a bunch of the new CSM as well as some Orks. Unfortunately I no longer have the elves. I sold them to a really young kid for almost nothing. It just felt like the right thing to do since I remember being so interested when I was really young, and I just didn't have the money to pay for it. Apparently he tends to destroy his sister's boyfriend whenever they play.

Besides the hobby, I also enjoy working on my road bike, reading practically everything, working on my degree in history/Spanish, and hanging out with the boys. I'll be finishing college next December and then heading to Argentina to teach English for awhile. I'm really hoping I can figure out a way to keep painting down there.

I'm glad to be here, and I look forward to some great conversation!
