hi all just joined the dakka community and keen to get some advice on space wolves. been playing wolves for a few years and would like to try out a logan grimnar pod army for 2k points. I have come up with a list that suits my play style and while being not super competitive, a list that is still strong and heaps of fun to play so here goes.
HQ:
grimnar-275 points
rune priest-100 points
Elites:
wolf guard pack-5 with combi-plasmas
2 in termie armour, storm shields and wolf claws
drop pod
261 points
Troops:
2x grey hunter packs-10 grey hunters
2 melta guns
wolf standard
mark of wulfen
drop pod
215 points each
2x grey hunter packs-10 grey hunters
2 plasma guns
wolf standard
mark of wulfen
drop pod
220 points each
fast attack:
thunder wolf cavalry-3 thunder wolves
power fist
175 points
heavy support:
long fangs-6 long fangs
5 multi-meltas
drop pod
175 points
long fangs-6 long fangs
5 missile launchers
140 points
all this comes in at 1,996 and my idea with this list is to bring the mm long fangs with grimnar, the wolf guard with the rune priest and a plasma hunter squad down in the first turn to cripple my enemies major and follow up with a devastating second turn bring in the rest of the hunters to secure objectives. this list has some heavy fire power both long and short range, good mobility with the pods and twc and lots of in your face units giving the shock and awe approach iam going for all with grimnar in the centre boosting units and lending some muscle. and advice would be much appreciated. thanks dakka.

looks ok but not the kind of army id use grimnar in tbh. there isnt enough termy armour in to keep him protected at the front and the only onther place i use him is in a group of las cannon fangs so he can give them tank hunter.
thunder wolves are expensive to use without the proper protection, a power fist goes a long way in combat (if it survives being hit first), i tend to go over kill with these guys using a unit of 5 all armed with shields so the always get their 3+ save and to accompany them i always take a lord on a wolf with a fist, shield and a few other bits and pieces, id only recommend this in a game bigger than 1500 as the 6 models together cost 675 points, as expensive as they are they are killing machines that run through the toughest MC, nurgle and wraith lists these guys have won me a lot of games through pure endurance.
if you wanna play rough with the wolves and laugh at your opponent as you walk through the battle field try this out.
make your whole army a foot slogger but all units take a wolf guard with termy armour, shield and say frost blade or just leave it as a storm bolter for added fire power.
make sure you have 3 wolf guard units so you can have 3 cyclone missile launchers, split them off into the long fangs (3 units with missile launchers)
with this kind of army i have seen so many players fall because every model is moving towards your opponent, they all have a decent number and they are headed by a 2+ 3++ leader with support at the back by means of 7 S8 AP3 shots per unit and able to fire at 2 units each works a treat.

the meta at my gaming club is grey hunter with terminator sargent and heavy flamer and everyone else having 2 combi weapons in drop pods, so far it has gone undefeated mostly ._.

With Logan Grimnar you really want to take advantage of the fact that Wolf Guard are scoring choices (if you take him they are Troops, not Elites). Probably at least 2 units of Wolf Guard. I'd make them mostly Power Armor, with every 5th being in Terminator Armor to take a Heavy Weapon (Assault Cannon would be my choice for anything in Drop Pods, CML for anything sitting in the back line). Wolf Guard basically work just like slightly more expensive Grey Hunters, just they lack the Wolf Standard option.
Your Grey Hunter choices are solid. That's pretty much what I run, so no complaints there. Your TWC are also similar to what I run (though I use a Wolf Claw instead of a Power Fist; I'd get a SS on one if you are throwing him at things that need a Power Fist to deal with personally).
Relentless MM can work wonders. Also, if you are shooting them at a Flyer it doesn't even matter since they have to Snap Fire anyways. Some people forget that, so sometimes it doesn't actually hurt to have Long Fangs in a Drop Pod. Being able to drop in behind a Heldrake to Snap Fire at the AV 10 can be very useful sometimes. Luckily, Logan can give you Tank Hunters too so don't be afraid to put them in your second wave and take advantage of that. It's basically an 83% chance to destroy a Flyer, better if you can get Prescience off on them (requires the Rune Priest to already be on the table and in range of the Pod).
Honestly, you may be selling yourself short by not taking any Allies, but it's probably fine. If you were interested in Allies I would drop the Wolf Guard and either the TWC or Grimnar (not both probably) to free up points for it.
