This will sound real stupid.

But I read the outflank rule I BRB.

It says that the unit will arrive from the left and right side of the table edge of the contorlling player?

Which makes it useless?

I don't get it.

And I've seen people using outflank and arriving on opponent's table edge and had no problem with it cause it made sense.

After reading it I just confused myself. :/

Some help please?

That way,then left

If you outflank the unit comes on the table from either the table edge on your left or your right, depending on the roll.
Units that are able to come in from your opponent's side of the board are rare, I can think of ork kommandos with their special character, space wolf scouts and tau units provided the right pieces of wargear are placed there.

Are you refering to arriving in an oppoenents deployment area? Or just coming onto the board? I think the left/right thing only refers to the controlling player to avoid confusion, as your left, is thier right etc. Outflank lets you bring stuff on in your opponents deploymen zone.

This is true, but worth clarifying - NOT from their board edge, unless the unit's specifically allowed (like Wolf Scouts, for instance).
Their worth lies in being a threat that can't immediately be gauged. An opponent that's wary of them may bunch up in the middle more, leaving them open to blasts and templates, not to mention possible problems with grabbing objectives if you put them on the edges.
If they use the sides regardless, they may get a shock attack on a prize unit - in particular, Outflankers can be really good at getting rear armour shots in before your opponent has a chance to reposition. Occasionally you'll also get the chance to bring them in behind an assault and then if the unit falls back it's trapped and wiped out.

The best thing about them by far is you can wait to see how your opponent deploys and how they start to play before you decide what to do with them.

Thanks guys. That cleared it up.

As Ilf said. The contorlling player thing confused the. Hell out of me.

Well having to clear this up.

Second question. Outflank with Maulerfiends. Advisable? I guess not? Pure melee beast. Outflank prevents it from chraging on the turn it arrives.

Only real reason to outflank it is if you're afraid of it being shot down early. With "It Will Not Die" and the Daemon invulnerable save making it resilient, the only time this is a factor is if you know your opponent has some quick melta to deploy, like Sternguard in a pod. That way you have a shot at it arriving after said melta unit has already had to deploy.

How is the Maulerfiend outflanking?

Edit: derp, forgot about the warlord trait. Never mind.

The outflank has been nerfed a bunch now that you cannot assault from it, but it's far from useless.

Couldn't assault after coming in from reserves to begin with.

Take Ahriman or Huron. Give it Infiltrate and put it in reserve.

I thought the CSM Warlord Trait only granted Infiltrate to Infantry.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Outflank is a great ability, with some decent shooty units you can get side shots on heavy front-armored tank units and get cover-free shots on models hiding behind terrain.
