Ok so I don't play BT, but I was flicking through the codex and found something rather odd...
Their assault squads can all take storm shields and meltabombs, coming in at 27ppm.
Now I can see this as being THE unit for reliably taking out vehicles and monstrous creatures, without specialising too much (they're still assault marines, after all).
Thoughts?

Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

The FAQ makes the Storm Shields 10 PPM making it 35 for that combo.

Umm. 27 point assault marines? Those certainly aren't taking the meta by storm. Especially since volume of fire will still take them out just as fast as normal assault marines.

Didn't the FAQ only make SS from the armoury 10ppm? May be wrong.

And yes I know they will die to small arms just the same but it means they don't have to worry about battle cannons etc, which makes them very survivable! Combine them with a chaplain with crusader seals and take the "abhor the witch" vow. If the other army has a psyker - almost guaranteed first turn charge. If not? Then they still move forward every time they take wounds. Two units of 10, while pricey, *could* form some very effective tank/MC hunters on the first or second turn.

The ones in the Armory were already 10 PPM - the FAQ made those 15.

Haha about to say I just checked myself. It's even worse than I thought... Anyone know how to close a thread?

No need. It will drop off if no one has anything more to add.

As a Black Templar player, I'd rather have the Assault Terminators with Furious Charge or the Tactical Terminators with 2x CML and Tank Hunters.

I rarely used my Black Templar Assault Marines.
