I've played Trolls since they first came out, and they are definitely my favorite army. Okay, I know you don't want to expand right now so I will try to refrain from telling you to add stuff. Are there any more models that you have that aren't in this list? I only ask because if you play Trolls, let alone any Hordes army, with only ONE beast you're gonna have a bad time. If your Cygnar/Circle guys know what to do they will shoot that beast to Trolldom come. The beast dies then only the keg will give him 2 fury, which will be strained. If the beast is gone and the keg is relied on to pump fury he will be the next target. Once he's gone your 'lock is neutered, meaning no spells and no damage transfer. No warlock is immune to boosted pow 12s and he will die fast. With that being said here's what you can do with your current build: First off, Borka's a great 'lock to have with lots of heavy infantry. His feat is good for helping the champs get alpha charge, as well as EBDT if he has his animus up and is close to terrain. Once the champs are in combat pop Iron Flesh on them to avoid retaliation and let it go your next turn to get rid of the SPD penalty for another charge. If you can't get the alpha charge then button up with the spell and the champs can take the hit (they are really hard to kill with the right buffs). Wind Wall may be useless considering if you are in 3" range for its effect then you should be swinging anyway. The second part of Borka's feat will be extremely good for the EBDT to save on fury and if you ever get a line on their caster/warlock you send that EBDT flying! EBDT + animus + feat = 12" charge with 5 fury, and most locks/casters have a meatier pow that the EBDT can use via adaption. Don't forget to use terrain for the EBDT, and that not having LOS isn't the end of the world. I can't count the amount of times I've set my troll beasts on one side of forests with no LOS to caster behind it, tricked the player into thinking since I have no LOS I won't charge, then just walked my happy pathfinding trolltoes through the woods to just smack it like a normal non charging fella. If you do that with the EBDT you can walk up to 7" (not in a straight line either, mind you) and smack something, which is 1" less than a normal troll charge range. Also EBDT has two opened fists, give two handed throws plenty of thought at all times. If you need to kill something, kill it - but if you can knock at least two models down (i.e. the targeted beast/jack thrown into the "protected" caster) then that may be a better option, since it at worst soaks up two fury/focus and at best can seriously hurt the caster. I personally don't like scouts, but you can make them work. I haven't played with them personally, but they seem shooty. Gang isn't as great as it could be considering the Troll's medium base. The Skinner has other problems if facing your Cygnar buddy, losing two of his 4 abilities and having no real way of hurting high armor jacks. At best he'd be a solo hunter in that case, and he'd be out-solo'd (refer to assuming there is no terrain to save you). Both of these units will theoretically not gain much from Borka's feat or spells, considering that despite what it appears they aren't really designed to go all out in CC (Skinner may have WM but it's still only pow 8 and one attack that could miss, if not a beast does not stand a chance from counterattack, Scouts are terrain dependent and are a hit and run unit that will be outdone by both Cygnar and especially CIRCLE). Things to remember: Skaldi's countercharge is AWESOME. Don't forget it, because it's easy to forget. You almost can always move at least three inches for the charge bonus if you keep him in the back and move in a straight line at an angle to the target (his reach will allow it). Always keep at least one fury on Borka for damage transfer, hell sometimes two. He can and will be shot at/charged from both Cygnar and Circle. If you think you can protect him with those champions at all times, you will find out how wrong that can be (see spirit door). Things to watch out for: Don't assume your EBDT will have terrain to his advantage. I always assume that the area that I will fight in will have absolutely no terrain, giving the EBDT no advantage. If you have someone like Janissa then his Elemental Communion becomes much more reliable. Skaldi's countercharge can HURT YOU TOO. If you're not careful you will move out of BTB and lose the armor bonus. If you are in doubt, remember you don't have to move him to get the extra attack, you just won't get the charge bonus die. If not getting the alpha charge this can be the better option. My formation with a 5 man Champ unit with Skaldi is a line of 4 BTB in the front with 1 man behind on the left in BTB with 2 and Skaldi behind on the right in BTB with 2. This way it will be very hard for you to lose the armor bonus. Your overall army is going to heavily depend on how you use Borka and the champs as a strong center, EBDT as a heavy hitting flank/heat seeking missle and your scouts/skinner to hunt down solos and support units or harassing from terrain. Your main strategy should be getting your champions and Borka to get the alpha charge and find an opening for your EBDT to eat a caster. Hope this helps. If you want advice on expanding your current list I'd be glad to help! I love trolls.
