Hi all,
Sort of a multi part question;
Do weapons mounted on vehicle have to be mounted as per instructions or is there room for movement, or error, such as fixing the turret mount on a predator the wrong way around?
If a weapon is mounted differently from the instructions and gifts a small advantage, could this be acceptable if there also a small disadvantage, such as using a turret mount rather than side sponson, gains LOS but increases height therefore losing protection?
Last one, can anyone clarify what types of mounts the weapons on the sides of the battlewagons are please?
Thanks
EdO

A turret on a Predator can swing 360 degrees, so I am not sure what you are asking here.

Most people will not allow MFA.

If the Ork codex does not say then it is down to the actual model to determine the weapons arc. It is probably similar to a sponson mount though.

I always wondered if I could swap the Multi Melta with the assault cannon/heavy bolter on a land raider. I don't' see why you couldn't but I imagine it depends on where and who you play.
Some say the sponsons on a land raider have to be placed in the back set of openings and not the front. I think your free to decide.
Now orc vehicles you should be able to place emplacements anywhere you like. Orcs aren't exactly the assembly line types.

The exact same issue that a Razorback has - you can assemble the top hatch with the opening in front or in the rear.

I think there's always a little bit of wiggle room for cool looking conversions. While you see some folks on the Internet that will tell you you're a dirty MFA-er who's going to burn, burn, burn, most people in real life are far more reasonable. I find that the better looking your model is, the more reasonable people are willing to be about it, in fact.
If they AREN'T, then there's no reason you can't just treat it as a factory model. I don't think I'd be willing to let someone play a tank with the turret mounted on the side (which is what I am given to understand your second example is asking) but I'd still play them, so long as we just counted the model as being assembled the way it normally comes

Given that the instructions say that either option (front or rear hatches for sponsons) are equally valid, either option is both correct and implicitly NOT MFA.

The MM is a pintle mount whereas the TL AC is a hull mount, given the distinction in mounting type I'd say no to that. Sponson mounts on LRs are up to you, it makes no difference rules wise, some people like the asthetics of one while others like the practicality of the other. Ork vehicles may not be factory made but they are made to specs via genetic memory, so there should be some consistancy in general placements. Mainly if it makes practical sense to mount a weapon there then mount it i guess.

Think of this another way. How would you react if someone used these advantages against you? MFA is a courtesy to your opponent
