So basically my primer job came out like total garbage... think that the primer can may have been bad, as it was coming on very powdery.

Anyway, after much rage and pondering I was told to try soaking them in SimpleGreen. Well, I've been soaking them for the past 24 hours and while the top layer feels slightly soft, it's just not coming off. I read Castrol Super Clean works, as well as Acetone Free Nailpolish Remover. However Im worried that these may damage the plastic.

This is my first post because I'm pretty new to painting and I'd really hoped I wouldnt botch this Land Raider!

So, anyone got any tips? Again, Im not even trying to strip paint at this point, just primer. I used GW's Chaos Black primer.

Halp!

Quite honestly you probably won't be able to strip the primer.

Primer essentially bonds with the plastic underneath to provide a "rough" surface for the subsequent layers of paint to stick to.

Best advice is to try the simple green again or maybe something like Dettol, See if either of those work.

Failing that, get a blade and some files and remove the powdery parts.

You can sand the primer. Most aerosols have strong solvents so that stuff is bonded to your model. If all else fails you can use I if as a valuable lesson in testing your primer before you commit it to your model.

It will come off... not entirely... but enough to salvage the mini. Assuming youve used citadel's Black spray, even army painter primers come off.
You may think it hasnt because it stains the plastic whatever colour, black in this case, the best you can hope for is for it to end up a darker version of the grey bare plastic, with most of the recesses being stronger black as theyre much harder to scrub at.
I cant try simple green as I'm in the UK, but I've had success with our two popular items; fairy power spray - oven cleaning product.
and Dettol liquid - antiseptic cleanser stuff
On the list to try is isopropanol (aka IPA or iso propyl alcohol) have seen many reports of it doing well.

Acetone will certainly wreck any plastic or resin figures. But does metals in seconds!
Try anything your not sure about with some sprue or a mini you dont care about loosing.. sprue seems most sensible... spray a bit of sprue where the writing is, and then try to strip it in any products your unsure with.

'Ain't nothing crazy about me but my brain. Right brain? Riight! No not you right brain! Right left brain? Right!... Okay then lets do this!!

Thanks all for the responses. My general response is the disappointed "Okay" meme. I guess I'll just apply some manual primer to the tough spots and go from there. Thanks for the input all <3
