The base miniatures are all PSC StuG ausf. G (Late), assembled as normal. I then added the concrete "humps" to the casemates, textured them with an old toothbrush, and added the rebar once the GS dried.

Very cool!

Some of the 'rebar' they used was old T-34 tracks too... You see the teeth poking out.

I have been doing the same to the PSC StuG...

So what is the story behind this Concrete Armour on a Stug Big P? Did "Ze Germans" add extra Concrete armour on during the later stages of the war? How did this affect the engines? or was it a case of they just got them in position and bedded them in, never intending to move them?

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

It just acted as extra armour, same as the US Army application of concrete... How effective it was is open to conjecture, but it must have slowed an AP round down.

Im sure it effected performance in terms of fuel consumption, but probably not greatly so as to make much difference.

They had several different styles of concrete armour, most applied to the front, with occasional concrete applied around the command cupola to extend the shot deflector on late Ausf-Gs.

...and just for weirdness, the oddest looking StuG...

KK dang....was under the impression the "concrete" was a deterrent for magnetic anti tank charges

Zimmerit, the concrete paste applied in various patterns, was the anti-magnetic coating.
