I know that it'll be good if I were a Tau player.

Is it worthwhile to purchase for Elysian troops? The descriptions I find seem to focus on the Tau portions. I have drop troops and would like to know if there are changes or updates that I will need to play. No specifics needed, just a general idea.

The book was just released and most people are still waiting on international shipping time. Ask again in a week or two when more people have it, or wait for the inevitable reviews.

At the very least, the Vulture appears to have moved to the Fast Attack section and Long-range Ground Scanners are now part of the Company Command Squad. I believe Sky Talons are now Dedicated Transports as well.

It's the biggest complaint that I have of Forge World. The Raid on Castorel Novem came out not that long ago and now they may have changed the rules for the Elysians.
You can't thumb through the book at the local game store to see if it's needed due to big changes in the rules. Then, sometimes they make superficial changes (a five point cost difference for one unit, a squad now has access to autocannons) making it a needed item to play but not making a substantial change

That's a big pile of money to shell out for models that you continually need to buy rules for, because they get five pages in a 250 page, $100.00 book. (I know that in this case you could save a bunch by using regular guard for most of it, but it still stands as a whole)

The only good side of it would be the possible correction of the errors that they never addressed. Like the odd BS and LD for veteran squads.

They did address that in the FAQ, I believe. :p

But yes, the Elysian list has gone a total but essentially minor overhaul.

The majority of the changes are points-wise, but there are a few mechanic changes including Aux. GLs no longer being one-shot, and everyone in the squad can fire them at once. Also, the way Elysians are played now has changed with 6th, and a lot of Elysian players have to start with units on the table. The new rules cater to 6th and changes the playstyle by letting you have nothing deployed and deepstrike flyers turn 1.

Yup. LRGS is now part of the CCS, Tauros & Venators now can be squadded together, Vultures are Fast Attack as opposed to HS now, Air Support includes the Avenger (drooling over the ability to field this now). Cyclops & team come with Valk and are HS, and Sentry Gun Batteries are HS. Basically, Fast Attack now has way too many of the better units. :/

Although Sentry Gun Batteries did get a boost to become somewhat sturdier like the rest of the FW artillery units, and can be deepstriked or deployed optionally, which negates their silly range limitations for their firing modes.

No, only on the CCS IIRC. Makes sense, else you'd have a whole 10-man squad coming out of a Valk and hitting you with 10 Frag templates or 10 Krak grenades.

I don't have Aeronautica, unfortunately. But all Tau flyers are now listed as "up-to-date". There are listings for Navy Air Support under the Elysians list, but I think that that is specific to the list itself and if there are any differences, won't apply to the other Aeronautica flyers.

Yes. All of the Tau flyers have changed. The Elysian list uses the same rules as IA:Aeronautica.

I just realized the other day you can DS drop sentinels into terrain and not have to worry about Dangerous Terrain.

Gorramit I finally started using my Kastorel-Novem book literally last night to play games... This new one is pretty much a necessity for Elysians isn't it (say it is to justify my buying it pleeease?)

Yes. The list has entirely changed, and it's actually kinda competitive now.
