Something I've been considering lately is the concept of unit fillers. I've looked around and they seem to be a somewhat popular and widely accepted concept - maybe prices have something to do with this - so before I embark on producing some of this stuff myself, I was curious to see what other people have done, maybe an opportunity to share ideas and opinions and whatnot. =)

So what kinda things do you guys like to do?

Mini-dioramas? Terrain pieces? 2-3 guys on a base big enough for 4?

Post some pictures, lets start a discussion

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

I don't have anypictures myself, but there was an article in one of the wargames Illustrated (or was that miniature wargames) about this. it was very good, transforming a WAB unit of Vikings from a unit of 20 to one of 30 without adding extra models, putting things on the 20mmx20mm bases such as rocks and trees, along with the odd casualty.

In the same Issue they had a French Napoleonic unit using a fence to add to their base size.

the only problem I can see with this method is if you want to enter competitions or your friends don't like you removing a tree when they kill a Viking! Oh, and you must watch out for various things obscuring line of sight and stuff. Some people would regard it as bad gamesmanship.

Other than that your unit looks better, as it looks like they are fighting though terrain, instead of just around it and makes it look part of the tabletop, rather than on it

Oh man, the first monster I see I'm going to sneak up behind him, whip out my wand, and shoot my magic all over his ass.

I'm working on the same problem right now with my empire. No helpful advice, but I'll be watching this thread!

I've got a filler for my HE White lions, but the WL themselves aren't painted yet, so no pics.

The filler is a lion, painted white, with a black mane and tail tip. He's called Kimba and is their mascot and 6 wound counter - every other model is individually based - the other 14.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I may post a picture later (don't have it on me), but my Black Orc unit has a unit filler of a Black Orc trampling on a Dwarf Standard. I'm planning another for Savage Orcs as well
