If you make a precision shot on a unit, lets say an HQ melta shots a unit and calls out the powerfist wielding sarge, or better yet, a sniper precision shots said fist, can you look out sir! said shot.

You can look out sir any wound allocated to a character caused by an enemy (except Vindicare shots).

In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Yes, unless the shot was made by a vindicare assassin.
And as long as the model being chosen as the target of the precision is eligible for a LOS, i.e a Sgt or Independent Character. Not just a regular Joe with a melta.
