I have to say despite the heresy of having to pay for playing online (which THQ has payed for doing, among other things) I find that Warhammer 40k: Space Marine was one of the funniest over the shoulder third-person shooters/melee games I have played in a long time. People, mostly those who have never/barely played compare it heavily to Gears of War, and having played all three Gears of War for the Xbox 360, I can say it shares a handful of core mechanics with it, but has far more in common with third-person over the shoulder shooters then it does with Gears of War.

The game itself was a blast personally, though a but repetitive at times, its was really something to step into the giant 200 pound metal shoes of a Space Marine and wade into combat with all the tools of the trade for an Astarte, reading about them in lore and playing them on tabletop games is one thing, but to literally pointing and shoot a bolter and hack Orks to pieces with a Power Axe is truly something else.

I know that THQ being defunct now means the chance for there to be a Space Marine has gone down quite a bit, but developers, Relic, still exists as an entity, granted being owned by Sega, but I can see them getting the go ahead from Games Workshop to make (or continue making) the sequel, they but quite a lot of polish on Space Marine, more then I think most of the players and the critics for that matter even noticed, such workmanship should allow them a chance for a sequel, free of THQ's heretical marketing smearing the name of Warhammer 40k.

So what would everyone like to see story and content wise for Space Marine II?

BE WARNED SOME PLOT SPOILERS FOR WARHAMMER 40,000: SPACE MARINE FOLLOW!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED BROTHER/SISTER!!!

Personally I'd like it if the story would pick up right where the first game left off, with Captain Titus in the custody of the Inquisition for his supposed corruption by the forces of Chaos, stripped of his power armor and weapons, and being interrogated by Inquisitor Thrax at on an undisclosed planet when a large WAAAGH! of Orks appear out of the warp via a fleet of roks (including one UGE one) and proceed to besiege the planet.

Thrax leaves Titus locked up in the interrogation room to go aid in the defense where Titus is left to recall the events of the first game, including the cryptic final words of Nemeroth before the door is broken down, not by Orks, but a group of Black Templar Space Marines. Seeing the need for every available hand they can find to hold the Orks at bay and hearing of Titus' exploits against both the Orks and forces of Chaos release him and have them join them in the defense, all be it only able to spare Titus a Bolt Pistol and a Combat Knife to fight with at first.

This would let Titus join them in securing the compound from the Ork, though leaving him very vulnerable to enemy attacks, since has no power armor, hence no regenerating armor layer. At some point Titus would reacquire his Power Armor, having had it locked away by the Inquisition, and getting a Bolter and Chainsword along the way as well.

I would love to see a few new character join Titus on his mission, tops of my list would be a Sister of Battle, in my opinion she would be a Sister Superior, one very mistrusting of anyone who has come into contact with Chaos as Titus has and is therefore mistrusting of him at first, until over the course of the game he earns her trust in battle.

The above would also open up the option for Sisters of Battle to be used in multiplayer as well, more agile and slightly less armored then a Space Marine, perhaps even with unique perks to choose from that Astarte don't normally have access to, akin to the Acts of Faith the Sisters of Battle are so well known for in the Table Top game.

Another character I'd like to see would maybe be a Space Wolf, perhaps a battle hungry Blood Claw, who would act as a foil to Titus in terms of personality, prone to thinking before acting and jumping into the thick of things instead of making a plan. I think he'd probably be heavily melee inclined as most Blood Claw are in the Table Top game, only sporadically using his bolt pistol and preferring to charge into melee whenever he sees an enemy.

The above would be really nice gameplay wise, as it would give someone else for the Orks and any other enemies to focus on should Titus prefer to hang back and fight from range, as one of the major problems with the first Space Marine campaign is that anytime Titus was with his squadmates the enemy would almost always go after him over his comrades, regardless of their range to him

As for other things I'd like added, in addition to the weapons already present I'd love to see Flamers added, most non Warhammer 40k players confuse Melta weapons, though sharing the aspect of killing foes with fire, the are completely different besides that point.

Vehicle combat would be fun as well, more of a level to level basis, instead of modifying the game engine to allow vehicle combat at anytime anywhere.

Fun vehincles to see would include a Rhino for the first vehicle level in the game, with no controllable weaponry and presented to Titus in a "get the hell out of dodge" type mission, such as retreating to regroup with other defenders of the planet to mount a counter attack on the Orks. later on in the game it be a blast to get a hold of a Land Raider to play around with, toggling between Lascannons for taking out Ork vehicles and Assault Cannons to rip apart hoards of boys with tons of dakka.

That sums up most of my thoughts on what I'd like to see for Warhammer 40k: Space Marine II, what do you all think?

I'd prefer a squad based Guard game, along the lines of games like Rainbow Six Vegas or Republic Commando. Much more interesting.

Wall of text critically hits you for 999999999 damage.

But I liked it over all and thought it was good.

Less console-influenced gameplay and interface.
Less linear campaign.
Greater enemy variety.
As above, guardsmen squad command like the Star Wars clone trooper game of some name that I forget.
All major races/factions represented in a variety of multiplayer multiplayer modes.
