Hey dakka, making a 1000 point list for an upcoming tournament, and have been tossing around several ideas.

I'm wondering what you think of this list. Note that this is a semi-competitive tournament, no fliers are permitted, and that this is a Dread Mob rather than a standard Ork force.

"Burny Trukks of Death"
~Three Trukks filled with seven Burna Boy, each with a reinforced ram
~In one Trukk, we have a Forcefield & Powerklaw toting Big Mek and a Boarding Plank (my sole answer to AV 14...)

"DakkaTrukks"
~Two Trukks with twelve Shoota Boys, each with a reinforced ram

"DAKAKAKAKAKAKA"
~Three units of five Lootas

What do you think? Tossing up if I would need to swap out that Power Klaw for a Rokkit on every Trukk.

Solid dakka list. Lots of shooting which orks need if they are going for a non combat oriented army.

So no fliers allowed huh? I'd get a 5th edition army and use that, with a few minor adjustments. Pretty much the same rules and gameplay.

Burna boyz are very soid and quite frankly, I don't see enough of them nowadays. The option to swap to power weapons is great vs SM and the templates are great against horde. Imo one of the best units out there.

Change the 2 units of 5 lootas into a squad of 15 lootas if there are few targets.

Maybe consider using one of the burna squads as a close combat squad, while the other back them up. They are good at it with furious charge and power weapons.

Decent amount of boyz and pretty good all round list.

Burnas are like the sternguard of the ork codex. They are so versatile.

I'm a bit concerned about how much store you set by ork shots. A combat list will almost never fail, but a shooting list? I don't have much experience with them but I can only imagine that it will not be too great against mech lists. Although that's why you have burnas and lootas. Might have trouble against tank heavy lists. All things considered, a very good list. I gather you are an experienced gamer by the 1000+ posts you have, so you are no stranger to tactics, so I doubt you will have a problem changing things if needs be in the game. Also a unique list. Very different from the run of the mill deffkopters and boy horde army. Kudos.

Lol, not even close. It's purely and simply because for the last month I've been in full study mode, which means full procrastination mode, which means 20+ posts per day.

I'm new to the hobby, with more models than sense. Got exactly one "proper" win under my belt, though theres plenty of victorious themed games, games that I probably one but neither of us bothered to count the points, and games where I was winning and the time ran out. But still...

Gotta say I like your style though. If you think choppy Orks can be done, (and its not a Green tide, cbf moving that many models!) tell me how you'd do it. It's refreshing to see something other than "more shoota boys, add five dakkajets and 80 lootas"

Also, I totally agree that Burna Boyz are amazing. At first I thought, 15 points for a close ranged, 6+ save unit? feth that. But then I tried them, and holy gak 12 flame templates from a trukk is just savage

Got 1850 against Orks tomorrow, if you drop some advice quickly enough I might put it to use. Looking to run Speed Freeks for the first time

In this edition most ork players use dakka lists... This is pew pew edition not chop chop.

Note to the reader: my username is not arrogance. No, my name is taken from the most excellent of commanders: Lord Castellan Creed, of the Imperial Guar- I mean Astra Militarum - who has a special rule known only as "Tactical Genius"... Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

I like the list, but burns boys can't take trukks. You have to buy looted wagons or battle wagons for them. If not for that, they would own low p battles!

As I said in the OP, this is a Dread Mob, which is a Forgeworld army list thats slightly different than the usual Ork codex.

In this list, yes, Burna Boys can take trukks. As they bloody well should be able to if you ask me

Aw man, I just read that Kareen! results end with a boom, not with a wreck. That was the main reason I wanted to put these very expensive boyz in a Trukk in the first place!

It might end with a boom yes, BUT! you still only suffer a str3 hit instead of a Str4 Go trukks!
