Yes there are....I cannot for the life of me remember where the rules are, I think it might be the old Market Garden book...

It involves Rolling dice for wind direction and laying them or the Glider on the Board.

Will do some digging for you mate.

I found those rules in the D Minus 1 book. I believe those have been rolled into the Normandy Battles book ... could be mistaken

There aren't Late War german paratrooper paradrop rules. The last air drop the FJ performed was in Sicily during the Mid War IIRC.

All FJ lists after that are just infantry.

You wouldn't want to play air drop rules for FJ anyway. Your guys drop with no weapons besides pistols till they reach the randomly scattered weapon boxes. No good unless you are playing a special scenario or something.

Ok, in that case you'll want Hells Highway, Market Garden, and Bridge by Bridge.

I don't remember if Market Garden has the paradrop rules in it or if its just after the paradrop.

Hells Highway has both germans and US paratroopers in it so you could start with just that.

Crete in 1941 actually, huge casualties convinced Hitler that paratroopers weren't such a great idea, ironically it was the German success here that motivated the Western Allies into developing their own airbourne.

Actually 1944... Not 1941.

The last drop was Operation Strosser in the Ardennes led by von der Heydte who jumped with an experimental triangular parachute design allegedly...

Before this you have Vercours in 1944 against French resistance, Drvar in 1944 against Tito (counducted by SS Fallschirmjager), in 1943 you have the drop on Leros... along with Sicily as mentioned.

So it didnt stop with Crete.

What Crete does is cause the Germans to evaluate mass airborne drops. The casualty rates at Crete were actually in line with planning estimates in general, expecting a minimum of one in three to become casualties. What Crete, and previous airborne drops cause, is a massive loss in the transport fleets that could not be sustained. This was both in terms of trained pilots and aircraft. Simply put, the Germans couldnt mount another mass airdrop after the fleet losses of 1940 and 1941. Operation Hercules was scheduled for 1942, but cancelled, in part due to the transport fleets being needed around Stalingrad along with the changing situation in North Africa.

Als the strategic development of the war led to less and less need for an airborne attack, except in those mentioned above which were smaller regimental/battalion drops to gain either local surprise or tactical advantage. With Germany forced onto the defensive, the Fallschirmjager were needed more and more in a ground role, and as losses mounted and the need to get troops into action became paramount, jump training was curtailed. The general lack of fuel also contributed to the lack of jump training.

British development of airborne troops began in June 1940 when Churchill directed the War Office to form a corps of 5000 paratroopers.
