From looking at Death from the skies, I noticed that the Imperial Navy is hardly involved; I mean for one of the biggest dogfights in the 41st mellenium, Battle for Cardrim, why is the largest Naval entity absent?

Where are the entries for the Avengers, Vultures, Thundrebolts, the aquila landers and all of the other flyers that make up the actual bulk of the aircraft in the Imperium

Didn't you see star wars? Two per transport
In all seriousness, those are FW units and only applicable in Apocalypse Theres no reason to put them in a game add-on (even just in the story) if GW cant make money from it like they can the models easily available in every game of 40k

It's very simple: Imperial Navy has been squatted.

It's standard GW policy (or indeed, any major company policy): if something is no longer supported, it is edited off the history. Since BFG is discontinued, Imperial Navy no longer exists either.

The battle for Cardrim sounds pretty small from what I have heard. The Navy was probably doing something more important, like fighting off an Ork Waaagh! assaulting Ryza.

The Navy still sells loads of models, all of those vendettas and valkyries for a start. The Guard don't really own any fliers themselves, after all.

GW figured out that it's more profitable to keep selling Imperial Navy stuff through FW and then invent entirely new fluff/units to sell as plastic kits. Once you understand that DFtS exists for the sole purpose of selling the new plastic flyer kits you understand why anything not related to them was ignored.

They are available (for IG, with SoB also getting the Avenger) in standard games of 40k. The Avenger/Vulture/Thunderbolt are all just normal flyers, only the Marauder bombers are Apocalypse-only superheavies.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

FW units like Avengers and Vultures are not Apocalypse only and that's not the reason they're not present. Rather, GW core studio publications have a standing policy of not using FW stuff because it's not part of the core sales channel and thus not what the book is being produced to drive sales for. Death From the Skies is there to drive sales of Valkyries, Dakkajets, Stormtalons, Doomscythes, and the like, not Forgeworld's sales channel.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

With the execption of the few specialized regiments(Elysians, Warhawks, Phantine), yeah the guard doesn't own their flyers, though the majority of painters I've seen seem to make it so that their regiment owns them anyways the same way the regiment owns vehicles of every type despite not being allowed to in the fluff

Well it makes sense for the navy to adopt a similar camouflage scheme to any regiment they are attached to. As for markings, they could be viewed as temporary secondment insignia, or something like that. Anyone trying to combine Navy elements into a Guard command structure sounds like a secessionist to me though, they need bolt through the head. I don't think that even the Elysians truly "own" the fliers, it is more of a permanent secondment, more than the ad hoc attachment that usually takes place.

They weren't 'squatted' because they were never a part of regular 40K to begin with.

It's not too surprising that a book aimed at selling GW's new plastic plane kits doesn't mention planes for which they don't have a new plastic kit...

Sometimes GW admits FW exists, sometimes they don't.

The Tau codex made regular reference to the Manta, and the breakdown of Shadowsun's force included the full FW Tau fleet, not the GW designed one for BFG. It's kind of odd that GW doesn't like their own subsidiary companies, it's not like money spent to FW is less money to them as an entity.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.
