Just finished my forest themed gameboard. What do you think?
The trees are removable from the forest to make playing WHFB easier.

Looks pretty good. After my Word Bearers are painted my next project is a forest themed gaming board.

Personally, I think it looks a bit sparse. Some more trees could be nice, or a water formation, or some more buildings (a ranger station? a log cabin?). As it is, it's a little barren. It doesn't confront me, since I play Drop Pods and don't get much use out of cover, but there are many armies that depend on it. I think a good rule of thumb is around 25 % of the table should be terrain, and this is still underneath that.
Woodland Scenics has some great trees, as does Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or any model train store. For a more alien look, pick up some wacky fish tank plants.
It's a great beginning, though! You build up a terrain collection a piece at a time, and you always gotta start somewhere.
Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Its a good start. At best that is only a third of the tables worth of terrain

Needs more terrain. There's practically nothing on it, too empty. That's not an issue for a fun game, it just looks boring is all.
Also there's far too many fingerprints and smudges all over it. What happened during painting?!

I agree (to a certain degree) with PrehistoricUFO. As your gaming board is supposed to have a forest theme, it should have an aweful lot more... well... forest.
A crater here and there adds the impression of a battlefield, while some more shrubbery would easily improve the overall look. Also it could use some more tree groups, at least double the amount of what's already on it by now. Maybe even some crushed and burnt ones?

I thought those were streaks caused by large drybrushing. The surface looks a little rough to be holding a fingerprint.
As a side note, by the way, your ruined citadel thing looks pretty cool. Where did it come from?

It's a two Gale Force 9 ruins.
And I agree, I'll get some more terrain. Some of those Citadel craters maybe.

Yes, it is primarily a Fantasy table, but 40k should be playable on it. I'll get a Citadel Moonscape and make then into pools of water. That should be enough coversaves for 40k.
