Deeeeeeeefinitely open-topped. In fact they have been for as long as I can remember.

I don't know about the 6th edition codex (don't have it yet), but the 4th edition codex they were definitely not Open-topped.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Well, I never actually played 4th edition...! I played 5th, but my memory of 3rd might be fuzzy. Of course, back in 2nd open-topped wasn't really a "thing" so I didn't count that.

The 4th edition codex should have been what you were playing in 5th.

in otherwords, the very last codex did not have them Open topped.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Definitely listed as Vehicle (Walker, Open Topped) in the new 6th ed. codex... I have always played them as Open Topped... Where did I get that from? I can't see it in the 4th ed. Codex or the 6th ed. BRB... Maybe it's in the 5th ed. book somewhere?

No, as there was no 5th edition codex. The previous codex to the 6th edition one was released mid 4th.

No, I meant in the 5th ed rule book - maybe there was something in there about it I'm thinking...

Nope. In the 3rd edition codex they were open-topped with a power field. In the 4th edition codex they took out the power field and the open-topped, handwaving it as the field making it closed. Now they've put both back.

No, there was nothing in there that made it open topped. Absolutely 100% certain on that

Of course, with the exception of (Heavy) Venom Cannons, I can think of no reason why being Open-topped is a bad thing...

Being open topped gets you a +1 on the vehicle damage table increasing chance to blow up. That's why its bad.

Where the heck does it say that? If so my group has been playing it wrong since 6th came out.

Sheepish Edit: Nevermind I found it. Right at the beginning of Open-topped vehicles. Nobody apparently looked there before...

No we knew about in 5th. Apparently my entire group missed it in 6th. Would have blown up a lot more BWs in those games...
