G'day!

Got started on my first Tervigon. Still have a fair bit to go on the carapace (going for a Behemoth style Lothern Blue on the edges) and a bit stumped on how to finish off the tervy-sac. I've got 4 layers starting with Xereus Purple, then Genestealer Purple, Pink Horror and then finally Ungor Flesh. Washed it down with Druchii Violet.
Pretty happy with the results, but think it needs a little more. I'm thinking the veins on the sac should be a snot greet, too (to go with the colour scheme I've chosen).

I was going to go over it with a very watered down Ungor Flesh and then try to pick out the Termigant head armour with a bit of a watered down light blue to show it was taught against the skin of the sac.... Thoughts?

Also, C&C welcome on the base, too. Should the alien goop be lighter?

Looks good, a little contrasting colour on the pouches would really set it off. You are on to something with the green, but be careful not to use a really bright, garish green. Something darker would be a good choice. Looks good so far!

Thanks!

Somthing like a Sybarite Green as opposed to the Moot Green? Maybe tiny highlight with the Moot...?

Bit of an update.

Gave it a light brush with a flesh colour and did a Sybrite Green on veins with a light highlight of Moot Green....

I glanced at this the otherday, and didnt really have anything useful to add.
But I will say that the green bits you spoke of before really do pull it together a bit,. Good work so far, Looking forward to seeing this one finished up.

Wow - that looks awesome! Looking at the first pictures I was thinking it's good, neat painting, but there's nothing that IMHO really caught the eye. Now that you've put in the green you've really set it off -and I'm not even a fan of Tyranids! Really good work there, it's pleasure to look at.

If I was to suggest one improvement on an already excellent job - extend your green highlights to the base, just a splash here and there, but not enough to detract from the main model.

Another update.

Almost there...

Finished off some of the details on the head (teeth & eyes) and started on the 1st layer of the carapace. Put a green wash over it and think it remove some of the "powdery" effect on some of the green.

Thanks! Really appreciate it. I was playing around with the mini i did colour tests on and when I put the green I was sold. :-)
Excellent idea about adding green to the base. I had already popped a more subtle green into some of the recesses (hard to see from the angles in the pics) but it does need more.

My darling wife.

She got it from:

It's a really nice bit of kit! Looking at getting one for dropper bottles at the end of the year. The toolkit is pretty functional.

I did a post about it a few weeks ago:

Looking good, the green and other highlights really help give contrasting colors.

I would almost suggest a few more, to bring out the features and texture of the model and carapace.

thanks for sharing - looks good

Looking at adding green sections (like on the skin) to the carapace, but I'm a little worried that the bright blue and green will clash together...

I'll give it a go and see what it looks like.

Almost done! Added a little green to the base and I like it! Thanks for the suggestion!

Wondering if I should do a blue wash over the carapace and then smaller light-blue highlights over the top...

Thoughts?

The new highlights on the chitin are a little bit heavy handed for my tastes. I really like the even highlights on the belly though. It's overall a nicely done model

I agree regarding the highlights, I think you could have an in between color as opposed to going straight from dark blue to ice blue. Maybe try feathering the effect with an in between blue, or toning it down with a wash?

Thanks. I was looking at it some more, but from a slight distance (standing and looking at it on the table) and it looks really striking.
Looking at it close, it needs to be toned down. :-P

There is an in-between colour, but it's pretty much invisible.
The Fang was probably not the best choice as it too dark.

I'll give the wash with a dark blue wash and re-highlight.
