Okay. New army, time to jump on the bandwagon! I've wanted to play eldar for a loooong time, but the ancient codex has been a huge turn off. But now, new codex, new models, lets run with this.

My list is focused on holding objectives, with warlocks giving Conceal to the Guardian squads camping in cover, and giving support to the Wraithlord. Autarch pals around with the warp spiders, using Precision Shots to hunt Independent Characters in squads, or tank hunting with his Fusion Gun. Farseer because well, he's a Farseer. Dire Avengers are an Automatic take for me, they look way too cool.

HQ:
Autarch (115)
-Banshee Mask (debating this one, or Mandiblasters, lower enemy init, or a S3 AP- hit...)
- Power Weapon
-Warp Jump Generator
- Fusion Gun

Farseer (155)
- Runes of Warding/Witnessing
- Singing Spear
- Phoenix Gem (this sounds HILARIOUS)
- x3 Warlocks (105)

Troops:
Dire Avengers x9 (317)
- Exarch (Battle Fortune/ Shield of Grace/ Power Weapon and Shimmershield)
- Wave Serpent (Ghostwalk Matrix/ Holo-fields/ TL Brightlances/ TL Shuriken Catapults)

Guardian Defenders (110)
-Brightlance Platform (Was torn between these or Scatter lasers...thoughts?)

Guardian Defenders (110)
-Brightlance Platform

Fast Attack:
Warp Spiders x5 (160)
- Exarch (Powerblades/ Spinnerette Rifle/ Marksman's Eye/ Fast Shot)

Heavy Support:

Wraithlord (165): (Again, torn between this, or a Walker Squadron)
- Brightlance x2
- x2 Flamers
- Ghostglaive

Any thoughts? I'm really unsure about the Wraithlord and the brightlance platforms, but I -think- I've got a solid list.

You've got an autarch with almost no fighty power - I don't think he adds his points worth to the list.

Why do you have one more warlock than there are squads they can be attached to?

You have spend a lot of points giving your DA exarch overlapping invulnerable saves! On a 1W model this is just ridiculous. Take the shimmershield if that. Frankly I think DAs are better off without an exarch in most cases, and I'm not sure a single wave serpent squad really fits in to this list.

Warp spiders again I think you have spent too much on the exarch. The powerblades and the autarch make me think you want this to be an assault squad - I do not think that is a good use of their abilities, and even a healthy number of power weapon attacks are still S3.

Wraithlord is fine. But I think this list lacks a real direction. You have 1 MC, 1 tank, you've spent a lot on characters. I would take only 1 hq at this points level, keep him lean, take a healthy amount of troops for objectives, and then some heavy hitters (eg take 2-3 wraithlords together, or bigger squad of warp spiders. As it is there seem to be scattered minor threats rather than a big old fist.

Hmm wouldn't it be better to run the Guardians in a 20 man squad, they can still get 2 weapon platforms as the codex says 1 Weapon Platform per 10 guardians. It decreases the chance they run off if a few of them die.

Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

HmmmI can see your point about the lack of focus, okay, how bout this?

HQ:

Farseer (105) (Maybe a spiriseer?)
- Runes of Warding
- x3 Warlocks (105)

Troops:
Dire Avengers x9 (172)
- Exarch (Battle Fortune/ Power Weapon and Shimmershield)

Guardian Defenders (110) (I prefer these small groups with a warlock joined to the squad)
-Brightlance Platform

Guardian Defenders (110)
-Brightlance Platform

Fast Attack:
Warp Spiders x5 (160) (I figure I can use them as IC hunters)
- Exarch (Spinnerette Rifle/ Marksman's Eye/ Fast Shot)

Heavy Support:

Wraithlord (165)
- Brightlance x2
- x2 Flamers
- Ghostglaive

Wraithlord (165)

2 squads of 10 means that 6 need to die in order for there to be a chance for all 20 to run away, plus you have to fail both leadership tests. They also both count as scoring units. Also, if there is a round where your opponent kills 14 guardians, chances are that will actually be 10, because the wounds can't pour over, with a 20 man squad all 14 would die.

The Twilight Zone

As for your second list, runes of warding is garbage now and costs more than the points listed. Farseers already deny your average psyker on a 4+, so the one shot to boost that is a bit worthless. Farseers can be taken down by gunfire just fine. A singing spear is a must when you have the points, as it now has no drawback vs the witchblade except cost. Plus, a S9 shot can instagib T4.
Grab spears for the warlocks as well, on that note.Where is your 3rd warlock going? To sit in the corner all to their lonesome? You only have 2 guardian squads to join up with, so either drop the 3rd lock or find friends.

I find it hard to justify battle fortune when you already have the shimmershield giving the whole squad a 5++. You pay a lot more to get a 4++ on one model, just stick to the shield.

Brightlances, scatter lasers and starcannons are all good on guardians IMO. Between BS4 and cheaper lances/starcannons, they all work well. I favor the starcannon cause my meta is loaded with 2+, but not that many tanks. The wraithlords are already covering anti tank just fine, might want to give the guardians some more dakka to compliment their role. Not that a brightlance is wrong, but it looks as if you are planning on going up against a wall of land raiders of Necron Av13 spam.

I really like warp spiders now. I loved them before, love em more now. The exarch is a bit more expensive, but puts out lots of dakka that is dead lethal. Marksman's eye is not bad, but only something to use spare points on.

As I said, the wraithlords are decked out for AT insanity. I think a scatter laser and bright lance would be better to provide TL lance fire and some more dakka. You have plenty of AT as it is, but some more mid ranged fire and twin linking those lances might be a better all around boost.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Okay, this list'll get fixed come hell or high water! I've dropped the ghostglaives from the Wraithlords as I dont see them getting into much close combat with the range they have they'll be (relatively) safe. I've shaved a few points elsewhere to add a Spiritseer; I figure spirit mark would add a bit of killyness to the scatter lasers, and increase the chance of my brightlances becoming twin linked. Another concern I have, is 3 WL too much? Would removing one and adding Wraithguard/blades in (as troops, no less) be more expediant?
