Subject: Mycetic Spores, how big should i make them?

Need help!! Busy building my mycetic spore, how big should it be? and what should I base it on?
Not sure if this has already been mentioned, sorry if it has. Anyways, heres my question, is there a specific size for the rules for which a mycetic spore needs to be? I see a lot of people basing them on a cd, and making them rather large, but I don't wanna use something stupidly big that will give my whole squad of gaunts a cover save just to have my opponent be like "what the hell?!"
So for anyone that goes to tournaments, whats usually the rules regarding spores? and how big should they be?

I've seen anywhere from half a tennis-ball to a hand-made resin-cast thing that was based on what I can only assume used to be a CD.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

The one that I run into pretty often is literally a wad of paper mache with some toothpicks stuck in it. About the size of your fist. I always thought it looked kind of small, but I never bothered to ask him about it.

hah, sounds similar to what I have at the minute, except instead of toothpicks ive used bits of plastic melted into weird/organic like shapes. will be green stuffing it for detail and adding other bits though, hopefully should turn out okay, ill post pics when its finished so you can all have a giggle at my sloppy work haha. Kinda enjoyed using paper mache for the first time since nursery, maybe I should go back o.O

Since it has no actual model just make it something reasonable.
Theres no need to deny your gaunts a cover save with a tennis ball, but at the same time, it can't cover an enormous area and make them invincible.
I reckon the Drop Pod makes a good precedent.

Make it a bit bigger than a Carnifex (the biggest model it can transport) and you won't have any problems. Remember that even the Space Marine drop pod model isn't big enough to hold a full tactical squad or dreadnought (same as a Rhino or Land Raider isn't big enough to hold 10 Marines). There's plenty of companies that make mycetic spore models that aren't too expensive. I favour maxminis.
