Something simple since quite a few armies have a large variety of assault units that is vastly hindered due to the lack of Assault Vehicles

Lets use this one vehicle for example

Chaos Rhino:

May upgrade to an assault vehicle. All armour values are reduced by -1

(So the new value would be 10/10/9)

Why bother with the armour penalty? The thing has to turn its backside to the enemy to let the troops out anyway which has the same overall effect. I'd call this fair;

Assault Ramps - 20 points
The vehicle's rear ramp has been modified to allow easier egress at speed from the vehicle. It gains the Assault Vehicle special rule.

True I suppose, but at the same time I was also proposing it could work for all sorts of vehicles, including the Eldar transports, and I wasn't sure if a cost would've made up for it.

Eldar transports have the same rear armour issue, especially the Wave Serpent. On the other hand, the Eldar's transport game really doesn't need upping since they can now get out of their transport, shoot stuff, then get back in all in the same turn.

However, units like the Banshee are crippled by a lack of assault transports (and grenades) and pretty much are left on the wayside somewhat uselessly.

One of the units I had thought about when I thought of it, though there's far more in the chaos codex that desperately needs a transport.

He's wrong about it, you can only get in within the MOVEMENT PHASE, not the shooting phase, so you can't just "run" back in.

I'm pretty sure Eldar can't do that...

I think that the armour reduction wouldn't make sense. If anything, maybe saying that the transport can only move 3" if they are going to assault.

Plus, I think that this would need a hefty price tag depending on the transport.

Any army that can take rhinos can also take Land Raiders, which have an assault ramp already.

What I would prefer to see is a rule allowing units to assault directly from a skimmer that flies over the enemy unit. Representing the unit just bailing out the back door onto their enemies as the skimmer swoops overhead. Maybe restrict it to Combat Speed unless the skimmer is also an Assault Vehicle, so that DE Raiders still keep their assault edge over enclosed skimmers.

I'd like to see an open topped rhino personally. Think there was something about berzerkers riding in it. Let them shoot with ease and then hop out to rip enemies apart.

That would be a nice thing to have in an Index Astartes type expansion.

Yes, because I really want to use Land raiders for Berserkers, Possessed, melee CSM, and all my melee lords.

It'd really help assault armies to have a CHEAP assault, not a GUARANTEED assault (well not so guaranteed since 6th, but still)

Ok, so I should rephrase that to 'Any army with a currently available codex...'

Excellent, Glad that's sorted, then...

For Marines and Chaos, I would kind of disagree. A very large part of the reason for complaint in the current edition is that Marines have access to much cheaper transports than everyone else. They don't need cheap ways of getting into assault faster. Its everyone else that needs cheaper or more effective transports.
