So I figured I'd ask the dakka community the above question, what 40k audio books are worth getting, which are not?

I have listened to several from the Age of Darkness and fell in love with them but with that being said I don't know enough about the books to make any clear choices for books I should seek and ones I should not. I am a big fan of the Ultramarines but I fancy just about any lore from 40k, heck I really enjoyed the few audio stories I listened to about loyalist Iron Warriors and Thousand Suns so I am open to just about anything.

Is the Ultramarine specific "Eye of Vengeance" any good?

Anyways, fire away with your suggestions and comments, I look forwards to reading them.

The Garro audio books are pretty good, if a little on the short side.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Red and Black is quite good. Obviously I would say that, but it's still a quality story in itself, And the voice acting on the Mechanicus character is really great.

I concur. Flight of the Eisenstein and the Garro audio books made Garro my favorite Horus Heresy character. "Straight Arrow Garro"

Thanks for the feedback fellas, I cranked up my MP3 player today and tried to find an Age of Darkness I had not listened to...and...well seems I've listened to them all some of them 2 or 3 times while painting commission work, sad day indeed.

Anyone listened to the Eye of Vengeance?

That's the one with Telion on the cover right? If so, I listened to it a few months ago. LOVED it. I'm no great Ultramarine fan, but that was pretty enjoyable. The Garro series is pretty good as well, but my personal favorites are "Butcher's Nails" and "Chosen of Khorne". I listened to them back to back and started a World Eater's army the following day! lol They gave me a whole new view of/respect for Angron and Kharne respectively.

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

Wait, what were we talking about again? Did I ever tell you about the time I gave you five bees for a quarter? That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..."

Shred City.

Eye of Vengeance is superb.

Very atmospheric, with the noises of warfare in the background, ships overhead, robots clanking, lasers searing across the ground. The story itself is pretty sweet. My only complaint is that it's only a short story, too bad there isn't some epic unabridged 13 hour book like some of the other ones.

Fantastic, as an Ultramarine fan this pleases me. Thanks for the suggestions guys, it looks like I need to check into picking up some audiobooks here soon.
