After a brief read my mate and I had our first game with the new Eldar book.

Good report, I hope you remembered that the Swooping Hawks could scatter on their Deepstrike since the Autarch joined them and he doesn't have the special rule in question.

Striking Scorpion Exarch should only have S6 or 7.

Nice report. Was the Vendetta killed by your Manticore in Hover mode, since it could get hit by a blast weapon?

To me the Chaos Space Marines needed to be characterised as a threat reaching back to the Imperium's past, a threat which had refused to lie down and become part of history. This is in part why the gods of Chaos are less pivotal in Codex Chaos; we felt that the motivations of Chaos Space Marines should remain their own, no matter how debased and vile. Though the corrupted Space Marines of the Traitor Legions make excellent champions for the gods of Chaos, they are not pawns and have their own agendas of vengeance, empire-building vindication or arcane study which gives them purpose.

Good report, but the jetbikes cannot shoot then flat out. That rule only applies to run moves, and given the consensus about turbo-boosting and the relic, a boost move is not a run move.

Thanks for the comments, we were a little excited by the game and forgot more rules that normal what with the new codex and all.

Yes, after the game we realised the auto deep strike was a hawk power and not part of the hawk wings.
On the claw, we were used to grey knights getting their Str buff doubled on their hammer but remember now that they are the only ones that do it that way.

Yes my vendetta was killed in hover mode, it was a risky shot but I had to take it to remove the serpent so my eradicator could take a shot at the avengers, worth it in the end as it killed all of them. I often hover my vendetta's for better mobility, especially when I've neutered my opponents anti-tank firepower.

I'll have to have a re-read of the fortification rules, I rarely use them. As we play with lots of terrain it would have been a struggle to put it down 3" away from any of terrain.

I think when Paul said he turbo-boosted he meant that he used the eldar jetbikes special assault phase move.

Yah, at all my gaming locations we've ignored the 'roll dice to deploy terrain' bs and just gone for a setup that mutually agreeable. IN the process, we've tossed out the adls requirement to be 3 from any other terrain feature. It makes games actually pleasant

Great battle, really enjoyed the random bouts of luck during that one. I expect as you become more comfortable with the Eldar, they'll perform even better.

Yes we noticed this after the game, strange about the AP:1 as it seems to have no use over AP:2 when it can only come into play against infantry. Perhaps a hint to the future?

It would make sense if the "6" also transfered into adding to the strength of weapons versus armor value, but alas...it did not.

It does. Monofilament weapons become Str 7 against vehicles. So an AP1 hit on a vehicle is... kinda nice lol.

On 6s at least

It's only Ap1 on sixes to wound, not on penetration rolls.

Really excellent batrep. I look forward to watching more.

As for the discussion on ADL, I believe it is actually set up prior to terrain, which means the 3" rule is easily followed.

Also, did you forget your grenade pack large blast from your hawks as well?

Again, thanks for the nice comments. I try to get a new video up at least every couple of weeks but sometimes work interferes with gaming

The eldar player didn't forget to use the grenade pack its just that he came down and wanted to use the autarchs meltagun verses the manticore so had to target the grenade pack there as well, he positioned it so it took out one of the mortar crews but it wasn't an ideal use what with the blob hanging around.
