Hey guys, just a quick update to let you know that we've released the Deus Ex: The Fall announcement trailer. Check it out:

Deus Ex: The Fall will be available soon for iPad 2, iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 5 (and above) for $6.99. The Fall is also confirmed for Android devices (timing still to be announced).

The Fall will be playable at the Square Enix booth at this year's E3, if you're lucky enough to be attending drop by to South Hall #1647 and say hi!

It's a dumbed-down iOS game. What a disappointment.

Oh dear. I really liked Human Revolution and was really looking forward to another good PC game. This is very much a disappointment.

They're getting a tremendous amount of negativity on Facebook, Twitter, and their own forums. I honestly have not seen a single positive comment aside from "this might be okay".

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Dumbed down iOS version?

They got the name right, at least.

For what it's worth, the actual name is "The Fall". I just put up an amusingly sensationalist image that someone 'shopped the title into "The Fail".

It seems fine to me. I dunno why people would be complaining about it.

It isn't looking like it's damaging the games backstory, or wrecking the fluff.

It's a spin-off, based off of the spin-off novel. I'm guessing most players wouldn't have read the book, so it's not like the majority are missing out on it.

They mentioned it was mostly developed by a mobile gaming company, so little - few dev resources will be lost.

Personally, the only issues I have with it is it's not released on android, so I can play it!

Well, after Squeenix fired a bunch of people working on HR, the only thing they could do was make it a mobile game.

I'm not actually seeing anything wrong with it. Sure, it's not another fully-fledged Deus Ex game - but Human Revolution was quite successful so that could still be on the cards later on.
Bearing in mind that we don't yet know if the core Deus Ex tenets are being followed - choice of progression, multiple ways to complete missions, engaging plot - what's actually been shown, taken on its own merit, looks a HELL of a lot better than anything else I've seen on the iPad to date. That alone is to be applauded.

I'd rather have another true Deus Ex game, but it looks really good for a tablet game. I won't throw around tired Internet words here, but it doesn't look terrible.

Oh no! They're making a spin-off on the tablet rather than focusing on what we want when we want them to! How terrible!

It is terrible, since, ya' know, we're the consumers.

Considering Square Enix's current reputation for laying off their Western studios even when they perform well, I don't think "voting with your wallet" will count for much of anything in any situation.

Squeenix needed to do something to pull their reputation out of the gutter. This wasn't it.

They just need to release another Just Cause game and all will be forgiven.

Yep, looks like they need another just cause game.....with even more outrageous stunts, guns and more.

Interesting how they used a real world operations name for the name of a game.....

Squeenix/Eidos has plenty of high-quality and still respected franchises. They just need to stop making questionable decisions with them.

Deus Ex: The Fall has reportedly been worked on for over a year now with many of the original team members from DX:HR. For such a limited audience and the fact that they're alienating their core, they seem to be misallocating their resources. Of course I'm going to vote with my wallet, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to miss this title without complaining a bit.

Sega hiccupped a lot when they made the Valkyria Chronicles's sequels PSP-only to lukewarm reviews. The series has pretty much been forgotten since.

Maybe not, but for me at least, making Human Revolution so DAMN good was.

I'm not sure where I stand on this.

This isn't what I wanted them to make, that's for sure. I wont ever play it because I don't have a tablet or android.

On the other hand, for those who will, the game seems pretty impressive for tablet, 6.99$ is really cheap to immerse yourself into the DE:HR universe again. And most importantly, they are tying this in with the HR storyline, maybe implying that the next installement might continue Adam Jensen's saga.

All I want is a chance to kill Meagan. That's all I'm asking.

DE:HR never really pulled me in, I doubt this will either, especially since I don't have a smartphone anyway

The aesthetics intrigued me, the gameplay hooked me in, and the PICUS level on top of Montreal's Olympic Stadium had me go all ''WEEEEEEEEEEEEE''. I can see it from my window right over my computer screen, so the idea that some global Illuminati conspiracy might be hatching there was just icing on the cake.

It's a game that gets better the more you play it. I liked everything about DE:HR the story, the characters, the style of everything, the music, the conspiracies, the gameplay and pretty much everything. To each their own i suppose and maybe i just like conspiracy games or movies (though the real ones are done by crazies). I enjoyed how if you looked carefully each group had multiple reasons for doing what they do and it felt like a political situation not unlike our own with abortion and similar and a radio talk show guy. Then there's the story through emails and other similar stuff you see in the environment. Also you have to understand even the leaders at the end may have had what they felt was everybody's bests interests at heart (the pathway to hell is laid by good intentions). It's a very deep story and even ties itself to many other art forms and old literature. I even heard adam jensen's room was taken from the main character's room in 'blade runner' and that the game was influenced by at least the 'ghost in the shell' movie. I also enjoy they even make fun of the cheesier parts of the game like jensen's spy look and the 'illuminati' bit.

Very deep game but to each their own.

Eidos really did a good job integrating common 'conspiracy' tropes into the storyline, like the PETA internment camps and such...

Also you have to understand even the leaders at the end may have had what they felt was everybody's bests interests at heart (the pathway to hell is laid by good intentions).

Except Taggart. Taggart was a jealous piece of gak, mad because he wasn't an evolutionnary stepping stone. Well bouhou, join the other tens of billions of humans who weren't.

Very deep game but to each their own.

It's also one of the few games that managed to make 'hacking' mini-games really really fun. I used to go back to make sure I had hacked through everything.

Spoiler:
Actually i've played through several times and it's FEMA. If you're joking i can't tell.

'Conspiracy' tropes? I was hoping for more of a lizardmen from space in political positions manipulating everybody ;P. Now that would be a twist worthy of M. Night Shamalalalalalah!

Taggart was the 'humanity front' guy. You mean hugh darrow the dude that invented all the augmentation in the first place. Also hugh darrow's ending makes sense too. He felt like he created a monster that became too far out of his control and he could no longer control it anymore. He never meant for people to cut off limbs to replace them with augmentations, use them for military, be controlled by shadow agencies, augment hijacked, drug pushed or to be discriminated against from the rest of humanity. He never knew that'd happen. Though in the end he's kind of a hypocrite.
