A simple proposal: Against tanks, power weapons gain an additional D3 Armor penetration. It's never made sense to me that swords capable of ripping through Armor like tissue still don't do a thing against vehicles unless the user is strong enough to punch it to death anyways.

That makes Powerfists, chainfists and klaws pretty much instant kills vs vehicles, they dont need to get any squishier

Personally I don't think this would be the best route to go.

Though it does make me consider a possible change for power lances.

AP: 3
Unwieldy

On charge, Unwieldy is removed and the model gains +D3 armor penetration.


The rest of the power weapons seem to be pretty well balanced, but a power lance is just... lackluster.

We actually do this already. Power weapons have rending vs vehicles. But we also treat assaulting a vehicle that moved as moving into dangerous terrain. However, models attack the armor facing they reach, not just the rear armor of the vehicle. We also allow vehicles an 'overwatch' (at full BS) with their defensive weapons against assaulting units but then they can't shoot with those weapons in their next turn.

AP2 weapons do still get the +1 bonus to the damage result, don't forget that.

This would make Chainfists the ultimate vehicle killer: Strength 8 (on most models) +2D6 +D3 penetration and +1 to the damage chart would be monstrously OP.

Seriously though, what vehicle can survive chainfists even as they are now?

It's unnecessary. Vehicles drop in assault instantaneously anyway. The rules are about game mechanics, not a way to represent the intricacies of the 40k fluff.
