So this is my first spin at a 2000pt list. there is a lot more I would like to fit in but I simply can't. Most of the codex is really viable imo. but I'd love to get Warp Spiders in if possible.

C&C appreciated.

If I were trying to get spiders into this list I would cut swooping hawks or a few rangers. Hawks are a similar high-mobility unit but the spiders just seem to do it better. 20 rangers is quite a lot and against some armies they just don't perform as well.

Everybody wants to take rangers to camp their backfield, but my experience is that they end up with a deep striking, outflanking, or high mobility unit right on their butts by the end of the game.

The only reason the hawks are there is because of the higher price of spiders and I think 6 hawks maybe more of a benefit than 5 spiders.

I agree you are a bit overkill on the rangers. Despite, and possibly in light of the reduced point cost they work better than ever in small 5 man squads. 2 squads of 5 is fine, but they are still a novelty unit that you only need 1-2 squads of, tops.

Better to take 5 rangers each squad to buy a second cannon for your jetbikes, and holo fields for your serpents.

A jetbike for your farseer would be awesome, so he can cast powers easily and have a 3+ armor save and T4 to ward off instant death. Consider a singing spear for the seer, there is now no downside to take one over the witchblade except the cost.

Hawks are better, but spiders just do so much more. Due to rending added and heavier armor, spiders once again outperform hawks. They are okay if you play a lot of guard, orks, bugs or other horde armies but against anything else spiders are the way to go.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Doh I completely forgot about the holofields on the serpents. I really like rangers and already have 20 hence why they are there for 5th edition. But yeah I will revise the list later and rejig it a lot.

Update soon.

Just a quick question: why are you taking the Spiritseer? Isn't he pretty much just for boosting wraith units and taking wraithguard as troops?

I'd drop the spirit seer for a warlock on jetbike and jetbike for your Farseer. Then stick one in each unit to buff them.

Because they are still good all round HQ's that provide benefits to many units not just Wraithguard.

EDIT

But here is the new list and I think it's an improvement please tell me what you think.
