Getting ready for a local tourney
Keep in mind Meta is heldrake heavy.

Sammael-200

Ravenwing command squad - 235
+2 knights
Apothecary
Blade of Caliban

Ravenwing attack - 161
+3 bikes

Ravenwing attack - 236
+3 bikes
Landspeeer
Typhoon missile launcher

Deathwing Terminators - 240
Cyclone Launcher

Allied IG
Lord Commissar - 70
Veterans - 70
Vendetta - 130

My plan is to use vendetta as main AA and possible late game capping. Was thinking about getting rid of a few bikes for attack bike w/ melta and or plasma guns to the bikes. Any Ideas, I'd love some input.

A RW army without a sacred banner?! Heretic! Fallen!

Seriously though, why don't you have a Standard of Devastation? This will quadruple the firepower of your bikes, which at a low point level will make a BIG difference. Drop the landspeeder for the SoD; you won't regret it. The banner will do much more damage than a single Typhoon. Your vendetta and a meltagun or two with the bikes will be plenty of anti-tank to make up for the speeder loss at 1350.

Hmm ok I had it in there but I dropped It for the allies. But yes I'll throw some melta in the bike squads. However I still can't decide if I should use a mastery lvl2 psyker. With dual divination for 4++ invuln and prescience to reroll miss hits and a dev squad with 4 flakk. If I did 4 lascannons I could have more meltas however still only 8 rolls for 6's to hit.. (Prescience allows rerol of missed hits so it's like 8 rolls almost)

I'm not seeing any psykers in your list right now...were you considering dropping something for one? You already have 2 Hq's because of allies. Sometimes it's better to have more troops that are less resilient. In fact that is almost always true. Dice roll 1's....

I'm sorry I meant drop the allies all together and take psyker mastery 2 - 100 and dev squad with flakk - 170

Hmmmm; both can be good. What would your vets have?

Nothing, I don't really have any extra points there just for late game capping

In that case, spring for the libby+devs.

That's what I was thinking. But I can't decide flakk or lascannons. Remember they will always have prescience at least. If I went lascannons that's more points for meltas etc

Well, I don't have my codex with me but I want to say Flakk is like a 10 point upgrade on a ML. And I think Lascannons are about 5 points more than a ML. With prescience, I think you can get away with lascannons.

The points aren't that much different but if it leaves room for 1-2 meltaguns on bikes (outflank!) then I say go for the LC. Reason being, this configuration will help you out if someone sneaks a land raider(s) into the tourny. And with your libby's help, you won't be that vulnerable to air.

Exactly my thinking and yeah missiles are 15 flakk are 10 more so yup, thats 2 melta guns in the bike squads.

Well I tried it out, penned the heldrake once and 5 up ignore. It's too much chance for me it won him the game. Killed 2 capping units.

Well, helldrakes are probably the best point-for-point unit in the game, especially against power armor. I wouldn't fret about losing because of the helldrake.

Yea hell drakes are nasty, I wouldnt worry about them if thats the reason you lost. They are tough and if your vendetta didnt manage to bring them down then I wouldnt worry about it. I got lucky and at the last tourny I was at all the helldrakes were at the bottom, somehow all their armies did bad, even double helldrake lists.

Well instead of the allies I went with a librarian lvl 2 with prescience and another divination. Tried it with a squad of lascannons but it wasn't enough lol. I actually made another list now with a dev squad 4 plasma cannons behind ADL with sergeant manning the gun. Only issue with that would be targeting, if I shot the heldrake, the cannons couldn't fire etc. If this list fails I'm going to do deathwing, local meta is full of heldrakes.

If you do go Deathwing, be sure to bring the FNP banner. A phalanx of termies with the banner, a couple storm shields in each squad and some long range guns is nasty. 2+/3++/5+++!

Thanks for the tip man. I never thought of keeping it hybrid and having a couple with the shields in the front taking the brunt of the fire.
