Thanks
Whats really sped up my painting is an air brush. I can hit a whole bunch of figures with a base coat in 10 minutes, rather than a few hours. Then I take a large drybrush (sized more for tanks than figures) and drybrush a few layers of lighter blue paints, culminating in white edge highlights.
The airbrush is amazing for applying even, thin coats. I can't believe I've lived without this thing for so long. I'm still learning how to use it though, as I'd love to be able to start using it for highlights as well.
My current project are Eldar jetbikes. I discovered my brother's eldar jetbike squad (10 in total!!!). These are on the old hexagon bases. As in, models produced circa 1992. I've been cutting them up to 'modernize' them. I'll get some pics up later.
But the basics are, you cut the engines from the bottom and glue them further up the model behind the rider's seat to make the model more sleek. Then cut the rider's legs and preposition him so he's riding like the Dark Eldar jetbikes. Finally, a little headswap to my dark eldar un-helmeted heads to avoid the whole "second edition" guardian look. My brother glued the bases in the models, so I'm having to re-drill out the holes because the flying stands have snapped off.
I'm really looking forward to using them with my tau. The tau need the fast mobile scoring the eldar jetbikes will bring. That and a farseer guiding my riptide, drones, skyray... etc.
