Hey guys! I've been disappointed in my gaming skills as of late so instead of taking 2 steam tanks etc etc...I would like to try this. Thoughts?

personally would swap the numbers of halberds and swords around as you will want the full horde of halberds. Drop the helm of the Skavenslaver, its not really worth anything, and Id suggest trying to squeeze in the Ruby Ring on the witch hunter, as it gains his sniper and KB...

I'd have all knights be with lances, you just don't have the extra ranks/wounds to support the GW.

Personally I'd put them in 1 unit, drop the swordsmen and spend points elswhere. You only have 7 deployments, which you may find difficult to deploy with.

I also would drop the mortar and Master Engineer. I find that because you have to declare which warmachine gets the reroll before his use, he's only really worthwhile with the Volley Gun. Cannons often don't need him, as sometimes you'll put it on the wrong cannon.

I also don't see the purpose of your detachments, when they're big enough to be full units on their own. Yes, supporting fire is a useful rule, but to get it, your sacrificing deployment drops. Not to mention, your sacrificing access to the HLR. In order to get Supporting fire, each detachment must be within 3" of the Parent unit, and because they can't move and fire (atleast the Halberds detachments can't), your really restricting your primary combat horde.

With that you have around 500+ points opened up for some more drops.

I like the skavenslayer for +1 armor w/out shield, fear is a little bonus. I prefer swordsmen over halberds...Everyone does halberds. Not to mention I prefer bus over horde. Stoupe, Ill be switching to 10 of lance, 5 gw as that's how I made em...They are flank chargers/chaff. Mortar is for low T things (allot of skaven/elves around here) and I roll so poorly that ill be pulling the engie and he'll be worth it xD Yes the detachments are big enough to be full units, but I play really defensively and use them as charge blockers/redirectors with the added bonus of support fire.

I do like the ruby ring...hmmm ill have to try and fit that in on the hunter. Also;
GotE, BSB, level 4 in swords
level 1 within LOS, but hoping for wither for mortar
Engi by a cannon or two
Witch hunter in the archers for skirmish
Priest in with halberds

Ruby Ring does not gain sniper, only KB.

I'd either do 10 lances and have no GW, or 15 GW and no lances. I know what you mean for they were built that way, I've actually built all 16 knights with GW, and my demigryphs with halberds but I tend to run them with lances full time, but since my entire army is converted, and I don't have "well this unit here is GW, this is lances" and inform them of the list changes during deployment ("All my demigryphs are lances/shields, same with knights") the Rule of Cool tends to make for a more lenient tournament scene.

Everyone uses halberds because they're the best core option we have. They're our offensive core unit at 6 points. Hell you can give them a shield and make them the same price as swordsmen and they're still better cause of +1 str. Basically with swordsmen your paying 2 points per model for a parry save. As much as I love 'em, point for point halberds are just better.

You don't need so much core. I tend to take the minimum in my empire lists, which is why I recommended getting rid of one of the big core units.

The main reason I'm against detachments is there is too many negatives that don't make up for the positives.

Positives:
Supporting fire/counter charge
Recieving buffs from Parent unit

Negatives:
Go down at the same time as Parent unit
No access to command
Need to be within 3" for Supporting fire, combined with move or Shoot, this means either the parent unit doesn't move or the detachment doesn't shoot.
Go down at the same time as the Parent unit (This really is a big negative in my area).

I don't understand the go down at the same time? I mean once deployed they function as a separate unit. I've found that a command for missile units tends to be meh but YMMV. Ill change all to lance, you have a point. I like swords for the grind...even though halberds are better xD
