Having done alot of Cold War for the last 9 months, I've decided a change is as good as a rest. I needed a month off from it to gain some perspective.

So I sold alot of GW 40k Metal Miniatures and then bought this.

This is a fabulous boxed set, no question. (Grabbed an ARV, because I already have 2 Cromwells, so 2 in this Boxed set will be the 95mm CS, So I can field a Full Command Platoon)

I've got the new Market Garden Book, and I'm taken with 11th Armoured Division from the history and the Points Costs. So after looking up the background, I realised the that the STUART VI was actually predominantly converted in the field to the "JALOPY".

Not knowing much about this, and finding only tiny amounts of info, I turned to the one resource we can all depend on....Big P.

After some superb pictures, sent by PM and some background he's helped me out no end. So here is my modelling Solution which gives me all the options I want for my Stuarts.

Stuart VI

I grabbed an Okinawa Turret from the M113 Sprue I recently got. Cut it in half, filed it smooth and then dug out a couple of metal 0.50cals and a British Radio Operator. I cut a small piece of Magnetic paper (Like rubberized Steel sheets you get for certain magnetic based miniatures) and glued it underneath the turret so it will attract with the magnet.

Net Result....

Repeat as required, 6 turrets in total and now I have Stuart VI's and Jalopy options...Cost effective solutions, 1 model - 2 options = Happy.

Thank you to Big P for the help.

I'm just going to do a standard Paint job on them.

I did take pictures of the boxed set as I opened it, so if you want some reference material for your blog let me know, I'll upload them to the Dakka, and you can use them if you like.

I won't be buying my BF mini's any other way from now on, the discount and the extra's (Objectives, Magnets etc) make these boxed sets much better value, if you can afford the quite high Up front cost.

Most impressive. I'm planning to make some Jalopys at some point, I'll keep this in mind.

Buttons Should Be Brass, Not Gold!

Kildare, Ireland

Great idea, great execution.

I still wanna see you do one with the three .30 cal Brownings mounted! Or the one with a sun shade!

I have a pic of one with gun shields fitted but I have a feeling its a Dutch one from 1948 that were used in the Far East.

The other thing you may wanna consider for the future is a SOD - Sawn Off Daimler. The Inns of Court Regiment removed the turret from some of their Daimlers to hold small infantry teams in place of the usual carriers so they could keep up with the Daimler ACs. If you do them for D-Day, you could even paint them black, as three of their troops went ashore with black painted vehicles on 6th June.

I can actually do a version with three 0.30cal's easily I have like 8 Okinawa Turrets going spare.

Sun roof no problem, can really have some fun with these because they were non-standard. It's the closest the British got to be Odd-ball.

I feel a "Pimp my Stewie" competition coming on.. Jalopy's for everyone.

EDIT-

@Reaver83 just saw your 15th/19th Kings Hussars Post on "Breakthrough Assault". I think I'm going that way with this boxed set, and I need to get my head into the decals in order to get these right.

Second of all I have lots of Shermans and FIreflys so I might use the other Decals to Irish Guards with the other decals.
